It’s been 8 or 9 months since my surgery. I had it done at an oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic near Gangnam Station, and it was mandibular prognathism surgery, which I had wondered about getting since I was really young. It was such a source of stress for me (my pronunciation leaked air and I got teased too.. haha) Because those things stressed me out, I kept telling my parents I wanted surgery, but since I was so young, they thought my bones probably hadn’t finished growing yet, so they discouraged me. So I think I ended up getting surgery after becoming an adult, when I had the time and means. I had the surgery at the very beginning of this year, and now it’s been about 8 or 9 months? Since it involves the bone, when I looked into it, I thought it would be safer to have the surgery with a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon, and I thought they might read the CT better too, so I really researched hard when looking for a clinic.. I went to a few places, and the place I had surgery at said they collaborate with a plastic surgery clinic, so I ended up doing it there. I still remember how I felt right after surgery. It hurt so much and I felt so nauseous that I wondered whether I really had to go through all this hardship for surgery, and whether I had done it for nothing.. After surgery, you swell a lot, and when I looked in the mirror, I was like, what is this,.. The swelling was so bad I wondered if that was really meㅠ But as time passed, the swelling went down, and now I’m very satisfied. There was major swelling for the first month or two, then it went down, and now all the lines are visible and the minor swelling is almost gone too. The swelling inside my mouth felt completely gone after about 5 months. Before surgery, when I had to give a presentation alone or speak in front of many people, or when attention was focused on me, I felt really uncomfortable and avoided it, but now the minor swelling is almost all gone, eating is comfortable, and my pronunciation is proper, so I actually feel like my personality has changed into someone who likes stepping forward to talk and enjoys chatting. I’m satisfied because I feel like my life changed a lot after double-jaw surgery. lol I just wrote this rambling post. I was worried my nose would spread, but in the end that didn’t happen. I do think a hospital with plastic surgery and oral surgery collaboration is really good.
