This is a consultation review for Dress Plastic Surgery, where I went specifically to see Director Hong.
The first thing that surprised me there was that a non-medical staff member (the consultant) used a toothpick to mark the line, and because she thought my eye-opening strength seemed weak, she recommended an upper canthoplasty + ptosis correction. When I said I wasn’t considering canthoplasty, she recommended non-incisional ptosis correction.
There was some waiting time. It wasn’t even the operating room, but there was CCTV starting from the consultation room. I’m not really sure why it was there.
When I consulted with the director, I showed photos of the eyes I wanted and asked whether that kind of eye shape would be possible. He said that to get those eyes, I shouldn’t do ptosis correction. (They were slightly loosened-looking, languid eyes.)
If they recommend ptosis correction, I would have liked them to explain in detail in a way that made sense, not just say it’s because I open my eyes with my forehead. But that was pretty much all. Both the consultant and the director were like that... saying things like, you can do it or you don’t have to.
I wondered if they would mark a new line again, but maybe because I already have double eyelids, they marked it in a way that followed my existing double-eyelid line and settled nicely. I actually liked that, but it bothered me that it was subtly different each time they marked it, and since my eyes are uneven, I was worried whether they might end up mismatched...
I said I heard this place is well known for semi-out lines and asked whether that would suit me too. They said in-out would suit me better than semi-out, and they only marked an in-out line for me.
The anesthesia is done by switching from general anesthesia to local anesthesia, and when I asked whether the patient could check the line during surgery, they said they couldn’t do that because there could be an unfortunate incident like bacterial infection, so I thought, I see...
Regarding CCTV, I asked whether it could be viewed, and they said it would only be possible after getting consent from everyone present at the same time. If there was another person having surgery, they would also need that person’s consent. I was surprised and asked, does that mean surgeries aren’t one-on-one and multiple surgeries are performed at the same time? They said that wasn’t the case.
I also asked about ghost surgery, and they said that even under anesthesia, you can still sense things like breathing sounds, so there is absolutely no way you wouldn’t know.
Consultation order was consultant - director - consultant. In other reviews, people mentioned pressure to book the same day, but I didn’t experience that. They also didn’t say anything like I’d get a discount if I put down a deposit.. I’m not sure if they thought I wasn’t going to do it (?)
This is only the second plastic surgery clinic I’ve visited so far, so I still need to go to three or four more places. I’ll diligently keep going around for consultations haha..
