The epicanthoplasty had stressed me out for a long time ㅜㅠ At my previous clinic, I had double-eyelid revision surgery and an upper canthoplasty at the same time, but it turned out that it had been done as an epicanthoplasty, not an upper canthoplasty. After that, I hated how my eyes looked intense in photos, and because my impression looked strong, it bothered me a lot.
For about 2-3 years, I wondered whether I should reduce the double-eyelid line and went to consultations at other places too, but the doctors said it would be difficult unless it was incisional, and some doctors did not recommend surgery, so I had given up. Then by chance I learned about epicanthoplasty restoration, and I went around looking into different places. I had consultations at several places, and among them, I decided to have surgery at Mate Plastic Surgery, which I liked the most. During the consultation, they understood the part that stressed me out the most, and I felt like they were sincerely worried with me and trying to solve my concern. After the consultation with the consultant ended, I felt the same way when I had my consultation with Director Kim Geun-sik, so I decided to have the surgery.
*Day of surgery On the day of surgery, the surgery was delayed by about 2 hours from the scheduled appointment time, so waiting was a bit hard, but they still responded kindly, so I think I was able to wait. Before going into surgery, the director designed the surgical plan, and I think the design alone took almost 20-30 minutes. He looks at it extremely meticulously..
The surgery was done under sedation + local anesthesia, and before the anesthesia started, I was worried in many ways, but the nurse made a small joke, and the director was also extremely meticulous during surgery, so I think I worried for nothing.
*1-2 weeks after surgery For the week when the stitches were in, I couldn’t wash my face properly, so there was some discomfort, but there wasn’t much pain or swelling, so it didn’t interfere with daily life at all! During that week, I washed my face as carefully as possible while avoiding my eyes as much as I could, and when washing my hair, I tilted my head backward and tried my best not to let water touch the area. I also made sure to keep DuoDERM on!
After the stitches were removed, I managed it by applying the new-skin ointment prescribed by the clinic and attaching regenerative tape (DuoDERM)! --> During the day, I applied new-skin ointment, and at night, regenerative tape (DuoDERM)
*One month after surgery I’ve been managing it consistently until now by applying the new-skin ointment morning and evening. The scar still hasn’t fully healed, so I can see red scar tissue, which bothers me a little, but the clinic explained this part in detail too, and since it is an issue that takes some time, I decided to watch it over a longer interval. ㅜㅠ Please let it settle cleanlyㅜ
*3 months after surgery The redness has almost gone down, it has settled, and it has become natural. Since I’m worried the skin might open up, even when my eyes itch, I try not to rub them as much as possible (I almost never rub them), and when applying makeup or washing my face, I think I rub the eye area very, very gently. I’m managing it consistently by applying scar tissue cream in the morning and new-skin cream + DuoDERM in the evening:)
At first, before my eyes healed, there were times when I wondered if they had become much too small? But I think they’re much better than my previous eyes, and my impression has become gentler than before. People around me also say I look better after surgery, so overall I’m satisfied. I absolutely don’t regret it. If I hadn’t had the surgery, I might have regretted that...
