While preparing to change jobs, I thought a lot about what to do with my severance pay, and in the end I decided to get revision rhinoplasty and looked into hospitals. My current nose is too high, and honestly, I didn’t like it from the beginning. I didn’t have the money for revision surgery, and I didn’t have time, so I kept putting it off, but now that I’ll have some time, I’m planning to get it done quickly.
My first surgery was in 2019, and back then, without thinking much, I thought using rib cartilage would make it pretty, so I did it with donated costal cartilage. I remember they put in a 4 mm silicone implant for the nasal bridge.. I asked for a slightly straight-with-a-subtle-curve line, but even after the nasal tip dropped, it still had a straight-line feel, and I felt like it didn’t suit my plain face at all, so I went around for revision consultations this time.
1. ㅊㄷㅊ (removal of donated costal cartilage + removal of silicone, or 2 mm silicone + septal cartilage + ear cartilage) I put this place on my list because I heard they do a lot of revision surgeries and a lot of difficult nose surgeries, and when I saw the review photos, they looked natural, so I went. The overall hospital atmosphere feels comfortable. The staff all seemed kind, there was no wait at all, and the director’s consultation seemed to take my preferences into account as much as possible. Honestly, I was curious about the cost, so I asked via KakaoTalk, and they called right away. I guess they only tell you after a consultation. It seemed like they try to match the line shape as much as possible, and I liked that they explained all the possible side effects too. There was a consultation fee, and they said CT is charged separately, but I don’t have functional issues, so I said I wouldn’t take one. Everything was fine, but the nose shape they suggested felt a little higher than I expected (I wondered if maybe I wanted something too natural.)
2. ㅁㅌ (removal of donated costal cartilage + 2 mm silicone piece + nasal tip cartilage repositioning + ear cartilage + lowering the columella) This was also a place I went to after seeing review photos, and since many people said they do things naturally, I went with expectations. The director had a large build and a strong presence, so I was slightly surprised, but actually, I think the director suited me well. Chic, but with a professional way of speaking? Since this is a revision surgery for me, I already knew most of the nose terminology. So when I asked this and that, I think he explained things at greater length and very well. What was different from other places was that they do sedation anesthesia briefly and then local anesthesia afterward, so you can check the nose shape. I think that’s good for me. I want to see the shape a bit while lying down I liked that he clearly said what was possible and what wasn’t. It seems better than just saying everything can be done. He said lowering the silicone rather than removing it is better for creating a straight-with-a-subtle-curve line. He also said donated dermis is possible if I don’t like silicone, so I’m going to think about it a bit.
Revision surgery consultations seem to take longer than first-surgery consultations. There were many people when I went to ㅁㅌ for the consultation, so everyone here who plans to go for a consultation should probably make a reservation quickly.
