I went for my 1-month follow-up today, and it has improved much more than I expected, so I’m really relieved and satisfied. It is still the period when redness and scars can stand out, but the previously sunken scars have now filled in a lot and become flat. When I went for the follow-up, both the consultant and the director said it seemed to have improved a lot, while also saying that it still hasn’t even reached 20%. They helped me not let my guard down by telling me I need to manage it even more diligently going forward, so I felt a bit more encouraged. Actually, my parents were very worried, but they were amazed and said, “What did you do for the skin to fill in? It has filled in so much.”
Actually, I had a very hard time because of the previous surgery, and I also wondered whether it was right to have this surgery and thought I didn’t want to lie on an operating table anymore. But looking back now, I wonder why I even worried like that. You probably know that epicanthoplasty restoration is a surgery with lower satisfaction compared with other surgeries. There are many things to consider, such as anxiety about new scars and the long recovery time, and because the results are that difficult to predict, it’s a surgery with lower satisfaction. But so far, I’m really satisfied. I’ll only know properly after the tissue recovers and I wait a little longer, but I think it’s fortunate that it has improved at least this much.
