I kept only thinking about getting breast surgery and never did it, but then suddenly, when I was unemployed, I thought I should just get it done, so yesterday I took a friend and went around to three places for consultations: Glam, MD, and Waterdrop.
From the start, when narrowing down my list, I looked at breast-focused hospitals with highly experienced doctors, so maybe that’s why all the directors felt like they weren’t over-treating? But each hospital had clear characteristics, so I’m going to write mainly about those I’ll write mostly about what people are curious about before going around for consultations.
1. Do they recommend implants? Is there pressure? -They say the implant differs depending on the size that suits your body and your tissue quality. Of course, when we only research online, we don’t really know things like what the breast pocket is, or how the length down from the shoulders compares proportionally to the body length. After receiving a specialist’s diagnosis about those parts, they tell you they recommend these kinds of implants for your body. But some people may feel that as pressure, since they tell you not to do certain things.. I didn’t feel pressured, just more like, ah, this is what suits my body.
2. I should ask carefully about aftercare, right? -Of course. You need to check what kind of care they provide, whether there are costs, whether it’s free, and whether the doctor personally checks the progress! And honestly, some places may not emphasize this part well, because these days they really all provide aftercare... It seems harder to find a clinic that doesn’t. Anyway
3. Can I do the cc amount I want? -You’ll know when you go. But each clinic may recommend a different size, and depending on tissue quality or how much natural breast tissue you have, the cc amount your body can cover is different.... If you’re lucky, you may be able to get what you want, or you may need to go smaller or bigger than that.
4. What questions should I prepare? -Obviously, price, aftercare, whether AS/revision support is available, who does follow-up checks, what pre-op examinations are done, post-op visit schedule, how many surgeries they usually do per day (places that said they do too many, I personally passed on..), whether admission is possible, whether CCTV viewing is possible. That’s about what I prepared. I took notes here and there, and for things I forgot to ask, I called and asked the consultant again.
Anyway, I went to three places, and in conclusion, the diagnoses were all different. I really had almost no natural breast tissue, but the cup I wanted was around a full D.. And I went in thinking of Motiva implants, and I think I set a fairly generous budget of up to 15 million KRW. I told them all this during the consultations.
All three places were fine. The consultants were extremely kind and gave detailed consultations, and they all focus on breasts and have a lot of experience.
Glam and MD are even breast surgery clinics, so I had a lot of trust in their examination systems and surgical methods.
To be honest, the place where I was satisfied with the consultation was Waterdrop, the first one I went to. They explained things really in detail, and the doctor had a very gentle style.. The consultant also answered everything before I even asked, and explained while showing things directly on a tablet, so it was easier to understand.
But it was really just that level of feeling? I don’t think I thought, I should do it here. I just felt like, oh, this is good, maybe because of their long experience, they’re thorough.. Then I moved on to MD.
At MD, maybe the doctor was in surgery, but there was a bit of on-site waiting, so I waited a long time in the consultation room, and the consultant also seemed a bit busy. Still, during the consultation, they did look at things carefully and spent a lot of time. The doctor was also kind during the consultation, but not so kind that I’d emphasize, wow, they were so kind!... Just a moderate amount. The time undressed was longer than I expected (taking off the gown).
Then I talked with my friend while eating, and lastly went for the Glam consultation. There was on-site waiting. I think I waited because the consultant hadn’t finished talking with the previous patient. I filled out the chart and waited, and what I talked about with my friend was that the interior seemed pretty Then I consulted with the consultant first and then with the doctor. As I had heard, the doctor’s consultation was short.. I was a little flustered. They made the diagnosis right away and clearly told me the implant.
But it was smaller than the first two places... When I asked if a slightly bigger size wasn’t possible, they said no. They said I have too little natural breast tissue and my tissue quality doesn’t stretch that way, so if a bigger one goes in, because of my rib cage and other factors, my body won’t be able to handle it, and it won’t look pretty either. They said a full B would look naturally pretty.. Then they directly explained the surgical process, how complications occur and what form they come in, and what to be careful about. Then I had a separate longer consultation with the consultant.. At this time, I listened together with my friend.
The consultant explained why I should go smaller while showing case photos on the monitor. Seeing that, I suddenly gasped and understood clearly.. My friend also said this seemed right.. At the first two places, she didn’t say a word and was watching in mother-in-law mode, but at Glam, the first thing she said was that.. She told me not to go big, saying I’d 100% regret it.
Looking at it, they said there are many people who come in crying because the implants are too big, pressing on the ribs so they can’t breathe properly, shoulder stiffness and pain are severe, they suffer, sleeping is uncomfortable too and the shape looks strange because it’s too big and doesn’t fit the body.. After seeing that, I realized I need to go with a smaller cc than I had thought.
And when I asked MD and Waterdrop about CCTV, Waterdrop only mentioned that they show it, and MD said they film it on a tablet. But here, even before I asked, they said since the surgery is fully recorded anyway, I can watch how it was done from beginning to end, and that the doctor proceeds very strictly on principle when it comes to surgery.. Hearing that, I understood why they’re mentioned a lot.. Honestly, during the consultation I was like, huh..? But then I thought this must be a place that competes with skill alone. Then I said I’d think about it and left.
For now, I haven’t put down a deposit anywhere yet. Just in case.. I want to think it over several times. But I do think there’s definitely a place I’m drawn to. Whether it’s relatively expensive or cheap isn’t what matters; since it’s surgery on my body, I’m going to go to a place I can trust and that can definitely complete the surgery well.
I’ve also been coming in and out of this community a lot lately, writing a lot of posts and comments I took away so much information, and I don’t know if this will repay that, but I wanted to give back to everyone here, so I wrote this really hard. Even if the flow of the writing is hard to understand, please just think it’s because I’m a bit lacking and read it that way
Oh, and taking a friend!! I really highly recommend it Honestly, I forget things while listening too, you know?? But since it’s not her surgery anyway, my friend was listening super strictly. I totally recommend taking a smart friend along, saying you’ll buy them a meal. Completely recommend.
