I had eye surgery when I was 18 and got my nose done at the same time, but the eye surgery was kind of a major operation.. so I just figured whatever would happen with the nose would happen, and had it done pretty carelessly.
Maybe it was luck, but I didn’t have any complications or anything like that. Still, for me, who had a flat, boxy, elephant-like bulbous nose, all I got was a silicone implant to raise the bridge, while the thick nostrils and the tip stayed exactly the same... The result felt so disappointing.
So this time I decided on revision surgery and started looking into clinics with my own goals and criteria.
1. Prefer medium-sized or private clinics over large hospitals 2. Prefer a natural nose that suits the face over an overly flashy one 3. Many years of revision surgery experience for bulbous noses
I mainly did my own research on clinics like that, made reservations at four places first, and visited all of them for consultations within one week. Unless something major comes up, I think I’ll choose one of these.

1. ㅁㅇㅌ(ㅔㅣㅡ) Chief Director Kim ㄱㅅ: A small private clinic, I went on Saturday and there were only two people there including me, so there was no waiting time - Consultation: The consultation manager was very kind, and gave off a vibe like Seo Jun-mom from Pisik University.. in appearance, atmosphere, and way of speaking too.. It felt like the manager consult (10 min) + doctor (15 min) + manager (20 min). The manager didn’t seem especially specialized in plastic surgery. - Director consultation: Since the key to a bulbous nose is to gather and raise it, he said the tip had to be raised as much as possible. He said the bridge between the eyes from the first surgery was too high, so the silicone needs to be replaced, and recommended nostril reduction and osteotomy. He said to use donor rib cartilage. He said the silicone was bent and the nostrils were drooping downward, so we should replace the silicone and raise the tip to correct it.
Pros: The director and manager were kind There was CCTV and the surgery time was about 3 hours?..?? Cons: I didn’t like that they recommended nostril reduction, which another clinic had absolutely said no to, and I didn’t like the idea of using donor rib cartilage to raise the bridge as much as possible. For me, that was too much. It’s so expensive... But considering it’s revision surgery, it’s not outrageously expensive.
2. ㅍㄹㅈ(ㅡㅔㅓ) Chief Director Sonㅇㅅ: Just an average-sized private clinic; it was a weekday evening and there were about 3-4 people, no waiting time - Consultation: The manager was politely nice in a very formal way, that was about it. Maybe because it was 6 p.m. on a weekday, it was obvious they were itching to get off work lol Manager (5 min) + doctor (10 min) + manager (7-8 min), and the manager didn’t seem especially specialized in plastic surgery. - Director consultation: When I brought up nostril reduction first, he said that if the tip is raised, the currently biggest complex, the wide nostrils, would improve a lot, so if the nostrils are reduced, they might become too small and look unnatural. He suggested osteotomy, fat removal, silicone replacement, and raising the tip with septal cartilage or ear cartilage to also correct the protruding mouth impression and shape the nose.
Pros: The doctor pursues a natural look and doesn’t recommend excessive procedures. If I say first, “I also want this!”, he explains that he doesn’t recommend it for reasons like X and Y, and advises doing things slowly, bit by bit. Since it’s a private clinic, even though he looked tired, he had a strong sense of pride and professionalism, and he explained things calmly and gently. 2 years of aftercare, free treatment costs, CCTV with real-time viewing, surgery time 2 hours, unlimited swelling laser if you have surgery, and they even give pumpkin juice as a service lol Cons: Looking at reviews on ㅂㅂㅌ and ㅅㅇㅅ, there are also lots of good reviews, but many say the side profile ends up higher than expected and there is overcorrection. There are also quite a few comments saying that because the doctor pursues a natural look, the bulbous nose doesn’t improve much compared with the amount of money spent.
3. ㅇㅇㅌ(ㅔㅣㅡ) Chief Director Hamㄱㅇ: A large hospital that uses an entire building, went on the weekend, there were tons of people and tons of staff, 1 hour waiting time lol - Consultation: The manager was politely nice, but when I said I wasn’t going to book today, he suddenly felt a bit scary ㄷㄷ.. Manager (5 min) + doctor (10 min) + manager (10 min), the director seemed very busy, and also gave off the vibe of an awkward older uncle. - Director consultation: He quickly reviewed the surgical history and identified the problems right away. He very sarcastically said, “It’s a very good nose even if you don’t get the revision from me.” He said that because the tip wasn’t corrected in the first surgery, the nose spreads wide and the area under the nose curls upward, and that the bridge starting point is too high and bent. He said to replace the silicone, set the desired height, and do it that way, and that the tip would be raised using both septal cartilage and ear cartilage. There was no mention of osteotomy, but when I brought it up, he said it might be good to do that too. He firmly said nostril reduction absolutely should not be done, that there was no need to reduce them at all, and that the nostrils are small, making breathing uncomfortable and the nose risky.
Pros and info: Maybe because it’s a big hospital with lots of surgical experience, it was very fast at spotting the problems, and he immediately said plainly when something was not the case, 2 years of aftercare, CCTV, surgery time 1 hour 30 min Cons: Overall the reviews are... bad. Reviews on ㅂㅂㅌ are nothing but praise, but if you look at free-talk posts or ㅅㅇㅅ reviews, people say he’s unfriendly and it’s very hard to meet him after surgery, that the surgery time is ridiculously short... And sometimes there are anonymous comments saying not to do it here lol
4. ㅇㅍㅇㅇ(ㅔㅡㅏㅣ) Chief Director Parkㅈㅎ: A small clinic, but with 4 board-certified specialists, a normal number of people, no waiting time - Consultation: The consultation manager was very kind, and maybe because I was just 20, she spoke in a super doting tone Manager (5 min) + doctor (10 min) + manager (10 min), and the director, with 27 years of experience, gave a comfortable older-uncle vibe - Director consultation: He seemed to care a lot about the overall balance of the face and the tiny proportions of the nose one by one. He said not to do osteotomy or nostril reduction, and said that for the existing silicone, he would usually just leave it alone because of concerns about inflammation, except to straighten the bent part, but he would open it first and decide whether to replace it. He said to raise the tip using ear cartilage and septal cartilage, and explained while drawing on an iPad. The consultation manager asked me to send a photo of the nose I want via KakaoTalk, saying they would capture it and put it up in the operating room during surgery.
Pros: It doesn’t feel like mechanical rhinoplasty; they seem to think a lot about the balance and harmony of each individual face, but they also seem to match the shape you want as much as possible. The clinic atmosphere is relaxed and everyone is kind. 3 years free aftercare, CCTV, surgery time 1 hour 30 min to 2 hours Somehow it feels trustworthy. The bridge would hardly be touched and it’s mostly tip surgery, so the price is relatively low Cons: It doesn’t seem like a very famous clinic, and although the reviews are mostly good, there isn’t much data. Because the price is so nice, I can’t help but feel suspicious.
