Before attaching the fixed retainer, during the cavity exam, they used that hook-shaped instrument for scraping and scratched the back of my front tooth. Then they said there was a scratch there, and that if they attached it without doing resin treatment, a cavity would form, so they were steering me toward cavity treatment.
There was no way to refute it, and I keep thinking about what I could have done, but there’s no way to know whether it existed beforehand or not. If they just say they didn’t scratch it, that’s the end of it, so there was nothing I could do.
I feel like consumers can’t help but be vulnerable to this kind of intentional bodily harm.
So from now on, for cavity checks and treatment, I’m definitely going to a university hospital... University hospitals have lots of patients, so they probably won’t go out of their way to scratch something and create extra costs...
