I was looking into removal because of contracture as a side effect after rhinoplasty, and this was one of the places I narrowed down after researching online and went to for a consultation.
My original appointment was at 1, but they called that day and told me to come 30 minutes early. I happened to have time, so I went, but far from seeing me early, they made me wait about 30 minutes.. If this was going to happen, why tell me to come early??
I got a CT scan and waited another 15 minutes or so, then met the doctor. He asked me in informal speech how I thought the surgery should be done. Why ask me about something the doctor should decide and consult on?? I was flustered, but for now I talked about the problems I thought I had and what I wanted. Then, still using informal speech, he gave me a rough consultation with things I already knew from consultations elsewhere, and it ended in under 5 minutes...
I started wondering whether the surgery I wanted was difficult so he didn’t want to do it, or he wasn’t confident, or he thought I wouldn’t get surgery from him so he didn’t want to consult properly..
There were about five or six people at the hospital, lots of nurses, and I saw quite a few male patients too. It was also a hospital that does nasal valve surgery.. I waited to consult with the manager, but they made me wait another 20-something minutes, so I thought there was nothing more to see and just paid the consultation fee and left..ㅠㅠ Sigh..
For now, if a doctor doesn’t consult sincerely, I end up filtering them out.. Even if they explain in detail, it would still be something to worry about..
Doctor, no matter what, informal speech makes you look a bit unprofessional... . .
I won’t share the hospital information in case it becomes a problem! It may have been only like that for me, and it wasn’t surgery, just a consultation I was dissatisfied with.. so I think it may vary case by case. . .
