1. Surgery areas Eyes (natural adhesion, ptosis correction), nose, cheekbones, chin liposuction
2. Why I had surgery It’s really wild that I ended up getting cosmetic surgery in my life. Honestly, I still don’t fully feel it yet haha. My looks were pretty much average, so I always dated pretty normally and got a decent amount of attention from the opposite sex. If I had any external complex, it was my nose, which I’d been self-conscious about since I was little. My best friend and I used to joke, “Hey, 00, it’s like God was making you and then knocked you forward lol,” and I’d say, “You look like you got your eyes pinched too hard lol.” We just joked around like that. Anyway, after that I ended up living abroad for several years, and wow, what is going on with people’s noses here lol. And the most upsetting thing was that if I covered my eyes, I’d look really ugly, so I couldn’t wear sunglasses... So getting nose surgery and cheekbone surgery so I could wear sunglasses nicely was also on my bucket list.
3. Consultation list I was in a situation where I had to finish everything quickly and go back abroad, so right after coming to Korea, I visited exactly three clinics starting the next morning. The reason I narrowed them down was before-and-after photos, not selfies or anything like that, but the raw before-and-after photos taken with a Canon camera that you see on plastic surgery clinic websites. I looked through all of those and only chose clinics that could give me the nose shape I wanted most. I went to three places in one day, lol: ㄷ,ㅇ,ㅇ and ㅍ,ㄹ,ㅁ,ㅇ and ㅇ,ㅇ,ㄹ,ㅁ. Wow, the time got moved around so many times. It was my first cosmetic consultation, so I didn’t know it would take that long. So I booked them at 10, 12, and 2, at 2-hour intervals, then on the day itself I realistically moved them to 10:00-2:30, 2:30-5:30, and from 5:30 onward and got all the consultations done. When I did my research online, I kind of liked clinic ㅍ. But once I actually got the consultation, I was hooked as soon as I went to clinic ㄷ. Then I still had two clinics left, and I thought I should at least visit all three, so I kept going. Clinic ㅍ was just okay, and clinic ㅇ felt like they weren’t overprescribing anything. At some places they even told me to do a back/lower canthoplasty? But at clinic ㅇ they said it might look strange on my eyes (and honestly, I thought the same; I thought my eyes might end up looking sad). And when I said I wanted facial contouring and cheekbones done, they told me I’d need square jaw reduction too, but here they said if I didn’t want square jaw reduction, I could replace it with double chin liposuction. I’d heard a lot that my face was small, so when they told me to get square jaw reduction I was a little shocked...? Probably because they were trying to balance proportions, but... Anyway, the conclusion was clinic ㅇ. Honestly, my first impression wasn’t that great, but this is the clinic I ended up liking after the consultation lol. After that I came home and started looking up reviews and YouTube videos to compare, and watching Dr. ㅎ’s YouTube videos was so funny lol. That’s all...
4. From the day of surgery through day 3 ㅋㅋㅋㅋ I really must not have been thinking clearly. The only procedures I’d ever had before were very simple ones like filler, carboxy, and toning laser. But lol, square jaw, nose, liposuction...? I just wasn’t thinking. I didn’t realize these were such major s-u-r-g-e-r-i-e-s! I thought anesthesia was the kind that just puts you to sleep, but it was general anesthesia. At first I didn’t even know what that meant, and when I asked, they said it makes your organs stop working... ? ???? ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Wow, it was really so scary. I came back to Korea on November 30, got consultations on December 1, and went the very next day to dissolve the filler. That was on December 2, and they said I had to wait 7 days before surgery, so I had it on December 10. For those 7 days after dissolving the filler, I was like, “Ah~~ I want to get surgery quickly and then rest while getting swelling laser treatment~~” all happy-go-lucky, but around the day before surgery I got a little? scared. Did I make a mistake saying I’d get cheekbone surgery... Is this a big surgery? Then came the big day of surgery ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Wow, I was literally trembling. But the funny thing was, when they were explaining things, I was already a bit nervous. Then when I lay on the operating table, they first do the eyes with some kind of local anesthesia, right? When the doctor says, “Open your eyes,” you open them, they pinch something, and because I’m still conscious at that point, it was insanely scary. Then once that part ends, they go into general anesthesia, and something cold... a really cold substance flows into my arm and seeps in. The moment I was like, “Ahhhh!! Scary, cold,” my memory disappeared. I think surgery started around 11 a.m., and when I woke up it was 7 p.m. A huge 8-hour operation.......... When the anesthesia wore off, it was really, really, really real. Is this right? Confusion, fear, pain, every thought came at once, honestly ㅋㅋㅋ The most painful thing when I first woke up was the autologous costal cartilage harvest site. I had my nose done with autologous rib cartilage. But actually, my face was barely painful, and even the harvest area was more of a bearable throbbing pain. I was making a HUGE fuss. After the anesthesia wore off, I woke up with that beeping thing on my hand and an oxygen mask, and since I’d never even once been on an operating table before, I panicked. Because I was like that, my dad came to pick me up, but I was too scared to go home in that condition, so I said I’d stay overnight and was hospitalized for one night. But honestly, I think it was the right choice. There’s a call bell next to the bed, and I’m not kidding, I probably pressed it more than 10 times. I couldn’t do anything at all, and since I didn’t know anything, I asked about every tiny thing, starting with whether I could remove eye crust. If I’d been at home, I think I would’ve panicked. Even water and ion drinks had to be taken with a syringe... shocking ㅠㅠ I could barely go to the bathroom too. Anyway, I’m glad I stayed in the hospital. If there’s anyone like me doing a big operation, I recommend staying overnight on the first day... And I really wanted to say this too: the nurse on duty then was truly... truly kind. I really understand why they call nurses angels in white. Thank you so much, nurse. Thanks to you, I recovered well. Day 1? Day 2? It may vary by person, but I was seriously struggling. I thought I was pretty good at enduring hardship, but it was really hard. The hardest part was that because I had both nose and cheekbone surgery, my mouth could only open about the size of a fish’s eye, and my nose was packed with cotton so I couldn’t breathe, and because of that I couldn’t sleep. My body hurt so much after surgery, but I couldn’t sleep for three nights after the operation. So it was basically a 3-night, 4-day stay, right? I slept one or two hours a day, broken into 10-minute intervals, until they removed the cotton. Not being able to eat was not that hard. The other pain was so intense... It hurt, but the pain wasn’t the kind that’s truly excruciating; it was more like a throbbing ache that was bearable. On the first day the autologous rib area hurt, but after a day that got better too, and on day 3, today, it just feels like a side stitch. I said my face wasn’t painful, right? But it was really swollen. Because I had such a major operation with cheekbones, eyes, nose, and chin liposuction, it swelled up to the limit where my skin could stretch? I thought it was a bit much. I kept doing cold compresses almost nonstop, but it still got that bad... On the surgery day I was already puffy, then on day 1 the swelling got severe, and on day 2 it swelled even more to the point where I was thinking, “Isn’t this going to burst from the blood first?” My eyes wouldn’t open because the swelling was so bad. But on day 2 I went in to get the drain removed from the chin liposuction area or whatever that was, and got swelling laser treatment, and in the afternoon my eyes could open. From then on the swelling started going down. Today is day 3 and I still don’t look human, but the swelling that was so bad it hurt has changed into swelling that lets my eyes open normally ㅎㅎ.. On days 1 and 2 I couldn’t properly use my phone or laptop because my eyes wouldn’t open, but now I can watch YouTube and even write a review, so I’m really happy ㅋㅋ And today I had the nose packing removed. I was seriously falling asleep the whole way home after the packing was removed, and even after I got home I slept for 3 hours ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ During that time, not being able to sleep felt like hell. Now that it’s around day 3, I’m just grateful for normal daily life, face and all lol ㅋㅋㅋㅋ Honestly, even up until yesterday morning, I had no idea what my face was going to look like because the swelling was so severe. But looking at it today, after the packing came out and the swelling went down a bit, it feels like my nose has been made exactly the way I wanted. Of course it’ll look even better once the swelling goes down, but even taking that into account ㅋㅋ Even for the other surgeries, the nose was the main thing for me. That was the reason I got plastic surgery, so I had Dr. ㅎ do it. I didn’t want it to be too obvious, I wanted to improve my bulbous nose, and I wanted it slim but natural, without being flat. That must be really annoying from the doctor’s point of view lolㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Anyway, that was the shape I had in my head. If I had to compare it to a celebrity, maybe Lee Joo-bin?? Sorry.... But even looking at it today, factoring in the swelling, it’s not too high, not too low, not too short, not too long (my nose was originally short, and I was worried it might end up too long while correcting that. Thank goodness it’s exactly the length I wanted ㅠㅠ), and not too sharp or too round either. It became a nicely rounded, natural nose. I want the swelling to go down quickly. This was my first surgery in my life, and I wanted to share the whole process from excitement and anticipation to fear, panic, pain, and gratitude. I’ll come back again once the swelling goes down a bit and around one to two weeks later!!
