I guess almost half my life has been spent with nose surgery.... I had revision surgery because my nose looked long, I did not like the shape of my nose, the shape of my nostrils was weird too... the nasal tip was getting increasingly red.. it was a total mess, so I had revision surgery.. ^^
Since I was someone having a fifth revision surgery, I tried to be even pickier when choosing. The hospital where I first got silicone 20 years ago has closed. Same with the hospital where I had revision surgery 19 years ago lol. I had the silicone replaced 16 years ago, but the director there retired the year after I had surgery;; The hospital where I had my fourth surgery in 2018 is still operating well. I missed the AS period, so I could not receive anything.
I went to consultations at dozens of places, and if there is one thing I felt from my experience, it is do not trust only patient reviews. Look at the hospital director, go for a consultation, and decide. I hope you do not get persuaded by the consultant's words. I hope everyone looks into nose surgery calmly. I also researched really hard with the mindset that this would be my last surgery.
For reference, in my previous surgeries I had used everything up through my fourth revision surgery: ear cartilage, silicone, septal cartilage, and even autologous costal cartilage, so I had even been wondering whether I would need dermal grafting.
This surgery was done with 2-no-fit silicone, reused autologous costal cartilage, and additional ear cartilage was harvested. They also completely removed all the foreign material that had been in my columella. To prevent another revision surgery from happening again, I also bought and used both inflammation sparing treatment and an anti-adhesion agent.
All the photos were taken right after all the stitches were removed. Regular camera. The swelling was not severe, and even though it was my fifth surgery, I had no pain. Anyway, please look at them keeping in mind that these photos were taken at week 1. The glabella is swollen and there is still bruising. It looks a bit more natural now. Through all the multiple surgeries I have had so far, I think this is the first time I have had this little swelling and no pain. In the past, when I had nose surgery, even my eyes swelled up completely...
The director at the hospital where I had surgery is kind, but when speaking surgically, he tends to be firm. The director's revision surgery experience was one thing, but when I had the consultation, he pointed out the problems with my nose the most accurately, so I was able to trust him and have surgery. He is the type to clearly say no to things that cannot be done, and clearly say yes to things that can be done. He was honest and clear, which was exactly right for my personality, since I had become suspicious and skeptical from having multiple revision surgeries. Anyway, everyone's standards for choosing a hospital are different, and there is no guarantee that just because things went well for others, they will go well for me, so I hope everyone treats reviews as reference and sets their own standards when looking for a hospital.
It has not even been a month yet, so I cannot speak too soon, but I am satisfied with the pain, swelling, shape, hospital aftercare, and so on.
It is exactly moderate, neither excessive nor lacking. Honestly, of course I do feel some regret, wondering if it might have been better if it were a little more glamorous, but honestly that is my own greed... What I realized after repeating surgery several times is that anything too excessive is not good.
I hope this will be my last nose surgery.
