Eye Surgery Reviews

Review of [Clinic A]

I had double-eyelid surgery with an incision technique five years ago. The crease looked fine during the year it took for the swelling to completely subside, but after that it gradually became asymmetrical. Now, on one eye, the crease has settled in a triangular shape, as if it were bent. Lol.

People around me sometimes ask why the double eyelid on one eye is triangular, and it drives me crazy.

But the bigger problem was my nose. I wanted a high, glamorous nasal tip, but the doctor suggested putting silicone only on the bridge and using cartilage repositioning for the tip instead of another material. (Apparently, this clinic generally does not use cartilage-like materials for the nasal tip and strongly pursues a natural look.)

It is true that the doctor and I had completely opposite tastes from the beginning. However, both the doctor and the consultant persuaded me, saying that the bridge and cartilage repositioning alone would make it high enough.

After the consultation, I decided on surgery with 4 mm silicone and nasal-tip repositioning. After surgery, they did not place a splint or cotton on the bridge; they only taped it and put cotton under my nose. From that point, the bridge already seemed abnormal.

Even before the tape was removed, the area between my eyebrows looked extremely high. Since they had not done much to the tip, my profile had become a straight line from the forehead to the tip of my nose.

A few days later, they removed the cotton under my nose, and my nostrils were asymmetrical. I asked about it when I went to have the stitches removed, but they said it was just swelling and that it was fine. However, an even bigger problem than the nostrils was that they removed the tape on the day the stitches came out. As I had expected immediately after surgery, my forehead and nasal tip were truly in a straight line.

At first, I waited because it might have been swelling, but even after one month and two months, there was no sign of the bridge becoming lower. Then I realized this was not swelling at all.

When I touched the bridge, it was completely hard, like a stone. It was not swelling; I could feel the hard silicone itself. Once I realized that my nose might become slimmer but would not become lower, every day became unbearably difficult. I stared at the mirror and cried at home all day. I was in high school at the time and missed almost two months of school.

I really wanted to die. It became an experience that made me understand why some people kill themselves after botched plastic surgery. My bridge had become strangely high, and on top of that, my eyes looked extremely close together.

My whole impression had changed.

After surgery, I avoided meeting anyone at all. The first time I met a friend, they tried not to show it and told me that the surgery seemed okay. But it was so obvious from their expression and tone that they were forcing themselves to comfort me that I went home in tears after what was supposed to be a pleasant meeting.

This is only my guess, but I do not think the silicone inserted into my nose was actually 4 mm. At the time, I knew someone who had silicone of the same height as mine, and I searched extensively on social media for people who had also received exactly 4 mm.

Absolutely!!!!! No one looked as bizarrely high and awkward as I did.

It is not as though I originally had a prominent nasal bridge, either.

From this point onward, the consultant’s kindness and attitude completely fell apart. I felt I could not live like this and asked whether only the silicone could be removed. They answered very firmly that it was impossible and that I had to wait six months. I understand that there could be safety concerns. But earlier, when I texted the consultant asking whether my bridge was too high and my eyes looked too close together because of swelling, the only reply was:

“Yep.”

They had been unbelievably kind during the surgical consultation, then acted as if they did not know me once it was over.

The doctor had also seemed somewhat blunt from the beginning, so I did not have a good impression, but seeing the consultant’s attitude change made me feel that this was really not right.

In the end, I gave up on having the silicone removed at this clinic. After hearing that surgery was possible at another clinic, I made an appointment immediately for the next day and had surgery the day after that. The silicone was removed successfully, but my nostrils are still asymmetrical. ^^

Even now, I think choosing this clinic was the biggest mistake of my life. I suffered terribly mentally. As I mentioned above, I also had double-eyelid surgery here and became asymmetrical, so I now need revision double-eyelid surgery as well. But the trauma from plastic surgery has become so severe that I keep researching clinics without even being able to attend a consultation.

I later met again the friend I had mentioned meeting after my nose surgery. Only then did they say that, honestly, they had thought I looked extremely botched at the time, like the people with failed plastic surgery they saw online.

I am not saying that everyone should blindly avoid this clinic. The facilities are fine, and they play gentle music in the operating room to create a comfortable environment. They do not pressure you into unnecessary procedures, they do not demand reviews, and the prices are fairly reasonable. If your aesthetic preferences match the doctor’s, the result may turn out naturally and well. However, you should know that the consultation director’s attitude may change after surgery, regardless of the result.

I am writing this in case someone like me experiences the same thing, so it may be of at least some help. I had an extremely difficult time. Please think carefully before having nasal surgery at this clinic.

I did join this community to look for a clinic for revision double-eyelid surgery, but I also really wanted to write this review, so I worked hard to gain posting privileges and finally wrote it.
