After after after Before <before surgery> Before <before surgery> For a long time, I felt stuffy whenever I breathed normally, and especially when eating and sleeping, I would feel blocked up and sniffle a lot. I was diagnosed with a deviated septum + chronic rhinitis and tried taking medication at an ENT clinic, but it didn’t really help, so I debated for years whether to have surgery. Then the symptoms got so severe that I felt like I might die at this rate, so I decided to have surgery. Also, the height of my nasal bridge was okay enough, but I had a slight hump, a drooping nasal tip, and a bulbous nose, so every time I looked in the mirror I thought my nose looked big, and it was a huge complex for me.
For real, I had searched YouTube, cafes, comments, and apps for ages, and one of the places I had been considering was Director Kang Joo-yong at Byeol Plastic Surgery Clinic. As soon as I had my consultation there, I thought, ah, this is the place!!! lol He explained everything so thoroughly, listened well to what I said, and the nose shape was exactly what I wanted haha. Even though it was for treatment purposes, I was also getting cosmetic surgery at the same time, and once you do plastic surgery you can’t go back, plus I was really worried about medical accidents. So during the consultation with the manager, I asked every single thing, but she explained kindly, so I felt reassured lol There are so many proxy surgeries at hospitals, so I asked about the operating room CCTV, whether the anesthesiologist stays next to you the whole time during surgery, why general anesthesia is used, and so on.. haha They said there was no CCTV in the operating room, so we decided to record with a camcorder, and they explained that the anesthesiologist would stay by my side the whole time, so I decided to have surgery!
Functionally, I had surgery for a deviated septum + submucosal resection of the inferior turbinate + nasal valve reconstruction. Cosmetically, I decided to correct the bulbous nose and lift only the nasal tip without an implant to match the hump line. Right before surgery, I had one more consultation about the nose shape and then had the surgery.
Right after surgery ended, the anesthesia hadn’t worn off, so I had no pain, but as it slowly wore off, my throat hurt so much and my nose hurt too.. I stopped by the pharmacy to get my prescribed medication, and it hurt so badly that I grabbed the pharmacist and cried.. lololol The pharmacist saw my face and even opened the medicine and water for me, so I quickly took the medicine and got on the subway..
Until day 3 after surgery, the surgical area and my throat hurt so much, and my face was extremely swollen, making the pain even worse, so I really regretted having the surgery... ㅠㅠ I could only eat porridge, and on top of the pain, I had to sleep sitting up for 3-4 days after surgery, so sleeping was really hard...ㅠㅠ
After spending 4 days with that pain and the misery of not being able to breathe, the swelling and my condition suddenly improved a lot, so I walked hard and could eat well again lol. Then on day 7, I had the splint, cotton inside my nose, and stitches removed, and it really was so.... so painful that I regretted the surgery for a second time... Oh, and the moment I saw my nose for the first time after removing the splint, I suddenly felt down.. lol Even though I knew I couldn’t tell yet because of swelling, when I looked in the mirror, my nose looked crooked, it looked huge, the tip was lifted a lot, and the blackheads and sebum were.. ugh lol. Also, removing the cotton felt refreshing, but my nose got blocked again right away and I still had to breathe through my mouth...
I trusted that time would solve it and kept myself busy, and after 2 weeks, then a month, the major swelling went down. With nasal irrigation, not only the nose shape but also breathing became so.. happyㅠㅠ The sniffing went away, air going in and out through both nostrils feels so refreshing, and the sniffing is gone ㅠㅠㅠ Oh, and the nasal tip that had initially been raised a bit higher is gradually coming down, so it has become a refined-looking nose haha.
Ha, thank you, Director ㅠㅠㅠ My nose is so pretty, and breathing has become so comfortable. I really caught two birds with one stone.. I bothered the manager so much too, but thank you for answering me so well haha. Everyone was kind, and thank you so much!!
