It’s been a little over 3 months since I had the silicone + septal extension + ear cartilage nasal tip removed. I didn’t have osteotomy or anything else done.
It was my first surgery, and I had it in for about 1 year and 3 or 4 months. I didn’t have inflammation, but my skin got thinner, and the foreign-body sensation, pain, and pressure were so severe that I couldn’t function in daily life, so I had everything removed.
People keep asking about the clinic. I had it done at ㅊㅁ, and I’m still recovering, so this isn’t the final shape yet. It’s hard for me to recommend the clinic. I’ll keep the cost private. Please go for consultations yourself. I won’t answer clinic-related questions.
When I first had it removed, my nose became really small, like a baby’s nose... It wasn’t upturned, but the overall volume of my nose disappeared, there was no contour, and it looked extremely small. Then from around 2 months, it gradually started getting bigger. People usually only worry about the nose lifting during the contracture period, but I wanted to let you know that there are cases like mine where it gets smaller too.
At this point, I think my nose is still smaller than my original nose. It seems to be continuing to grow back toward my original nose size. My columella was also small and straight at first with no volume, but when I looked yesterday, it had gotten a lot bigger. And at first my nostrils were flat, like someone had pressed them down, but should I say the structure is gradually taking shape? The nostrils are gradually coming back up to about my original level.
When you first remove everything, there’s no bridge contour and it looks broad and flat, but from around week 3, I think the contour started coming back. It’s still broader and flatter than my original nose, so I really hope the contour settles soonㅠㅜ
Even now, when I purse my lips, I feel pulling in the columella, and when I laugh widely, both sides of my nostrils pull and hurt. I intermittently feel sharp tingling sensations, and it’s harder than my original nose but softer than the surgical nose.
For me, the foreign-body sensation was so severe that after removal my nose felt so light, and the pressure and pain disappeared, so I think I made the right choice removing it! I have no intention of getting revision surgery again, but honestly, aesthetically, the surgical nose was prettier because my nasal bridge is naturally so lowㅠㅜ I do feel a serious reality check every time I look in the mirror... and my self-esteem is low tooㅠㅜ Still, if you’re debating because of a foreign-body sensation, I recommend removal. You can’t keep living uncomfortably just to look pretty... I’ll post my final review at the 1-year mark.
