I was scared of cosmetic rhinoplasty, so I looked into ENT clinics. Later I heard that ENT clinics tend to be more expensive because septoplasty for a deviated septum and rhinitis surgery may be covered by insurance. However, I never got quotes from regular plastic surgery clinics, so I’m not sure. Since my surgery involved quite a lot, I think the cost might have been similar even at a plastic surgery clinic. My nose was crooked and had a dorsal hump, and a CT scan also showed a deviated septum. I didn’t really have rhinitis, but since I might develop it genetically, I decided to have it treated at the same time. During surgery, they also pushed the bones along the width of my nose slightly inward on both sides, making my broad nose look slimmer. They said they covered the area where the hump was shaved with a thin layer of autologous material extracted from the septum. I really disliked a flashy, obviously cosmetic nose, so I think I made a fairly good decision by choosing a place that could improve the functional aspects too. From the side, I remember initially having a fairly straight profile, but over time the tip seems to have dropped into a straighter profile, so I may eventually have revision surgery elsewhere for just the tip. My columella itself is slightly drooped, so I’m thinking of correcting the long-looking appearance of my nose. Honestly, if I could go back, I think it would have been fine to research properly and have it done at a plastic surgery clinic. Still, I’ve heard rhinoplasty is one of the most difficult surgeries and has a high revision rate, so getting a decent result at an ENT clinic first and then having revision surgery later doesn’t seem like a bad route.
