Nose Surgery Reviews

Review of non-implant rhinoplasty for a short, hump-nosed nose haha

My concerns were exactly three: my tip drooped downward, the middle of my bridge protruded slightly and looked hump-like from the side, and rhinitis often blocked my nose and made breathing difficult. My front view was fine, but my side profile bothered me, and consciously choosing angles whenever taking photos was subtly stressful. I also had a deviated septum, so I decided to solve both appearance and breathing at once. My criteria were clear: use autologous cartilage rather than an implant that might later show or cause problems, and create a natural nose that looked like my original nose rather than an obviously high one. After comparing YouTube, Instagram, clinic websites, and reviews, Dr. Yoo Ki-hyun at Gift Plastic Surgery had the most results close to my ideal. I decided on non-implant rhinoplasty using autologous costal cartilage and ear cartilage, together with deviated-septum correction. What I liked most in the consultation was that the doctor was not the type to raise the nose as much as possible. Based on my facial proportions, he clearly explained what would look natural. He accommodated everything I wanted without pushing excessive procedures. He personally consulted with me, examined my nose very carefully, and clearly explained the surgical plan using photos. He said he would shave the hump only slightly, since removing too much could make the bridge look thick and lower it; support and elevation would be provided with rib cartilage at the tip; and the bridge would not be raised excessively, with autologous dermis used only to refine the line. Understanding the reasons helped me decide. The doctor was calm and gentle, listened well, and made the consultation room comfortable. He answered every question sincerely. It has now been a little over a month, and I am completely satisfied. From the side, the tip has lifted and forms one smooth line from bridge to tip; the hump is gone, but the bridge does not feel lower at all. Rather, my nose looks longer and more open. From the front, my nostrils are much less visible, which I also like. Because it was done without an implant, it looks like my natural nose without an artificial feel, and breathing is definitely easier thanks to septal correction. Recovery was faster than expected. Almost all bruising disappeared within two weeks, and swelling subsided smoothly after the splint was removed. Right after removal, the swollen tip looked blunt and I was slightly worried, but after two or three weeks the line became refined. The chest area where the rib cartilage was harvested hurt much less than expected, which actually surprised me. I am told tip swelling will continue to decrease for another three to six months, so I think the final result will be even better. I used to hate having my side profile photographed, but these days I turn my head toward the camera first haha. Rhinoplasty is major surgery, so I deliberated for a long time, especially worrying about recovery after rib harvesting and whether the result would look naturally as I wanted. Looking back after one month, choosing this clinic was the best decision. What satisfies me most is that they did not overdo it and tailored everything to my face. They preserved the strengths of my original nose and refined only what bothered me, so it does not look operated on but is clearly prettier. People around me most often say something looks different but they cannot tell what; that is exactly the result I wanted. The side-profile line, visible nostrils from the front, and breathing were all improved as discussed. Since the doctor personally handled and explained everything from consultation through surgery, I could trust the process. Even after surgery, he carefully checked the progress photos I sent, so I had no reason to feel anxious during recovery. The location right by Gangnam Station was convenient for consultations and follow-ups. If you are self-conscious about a side-profile hump or drooping tip, want a natural result without implants, want to address breathing problems too, and dislike sales pressure, I think a consultation with Dr. Yoo Ki-hyun at Gift Plastic Surgery would be worthwhile. I deliberated for a long time, but honestly, I wish I had done it sooner. Gaining confidence in my side profile has made taking photos enjoyable.
