I originally had a three-part facial contouring surgery because I was self-conscious about having a large face and uneven contour lines. I was planning a career in which looking good on camera was important, but after contouring, when I saw myself on camera, my facial line was smoother, yet the left-right asymmetry had not improved. Instead, as the width and empty space of my face decreased, it even looked longer than before. While researching various options, I learned about double-jaw surgery for the first time. I then focused on clinics offering oral and maxillofacial surgery because of the unfounded belief that it would be safer, and eventually underwent double-jaw surgery at a clinic near Gangnam Station. My bite was not severely misaligned, but there was almost no visible change. They said surgery would take about five hours, but I went in during the morning and did not open my eyes until nearly 8 p.m. Postoperative X-rays showed that neither the asymmetry nor the long facial appearance had improved. I even developed snoring that I had never had before, so for a while I gave up on further surgery, thinking I truly did not want another operation. However, because it is a face I see every day, it continued to bother me. Once the person I live with began pointing out the snoring too, I started looking again, thinking this would truly be my last surgery. I personally consulted about 15 places, including dental clinics and plastic-surgery clinics, not only in Seoul but also university hospitals outside the capital. Having already undergone surgery twice, I desperately did not want to fail again. I researched very carefully, determined not to decide if anything was even slightly unconvincing. CBK Plastic Surgery was the only place that explained not only the aesthetic issues but also the functional problems I had experienced after surgery, such as snoring, the airway, and the temporomandibular joint. At other clinics, when I said my snoring had worsened, I was even told, “It is unrelated to the surgery, so go to an ENT clinic.” At CBK, they properly listened to my problems and considered together what might be causing them and how they could be improved. They explained in detail things I had not even considered: that an improperly performed revision could make my face look older than it does now; that because my airway was considerably narrowed, it could in some cases lead to breathing problems; and that the left-right difference in my facial central axis was placing strain on my temporomandibular joint. I was also extremely worried that revision surgery might cause nerve damage, since I already had some nerve damage from my first contouring surgery. The doctor showed me papers presented overseas and explained the research process they had pursued to operate safely on patients like me who worried about revision surgery or nerve damage, which made me feel truly reassured. I have many worries and questions, so the consultation alone took about two hours, and I returned for three additional consultations. Each time, they explained everything very thoroughly without showing the slightest sign of annoyance. I came to think, “If this really is the last surgery of my life, I want to entrust it to this doctor,” and ultimately decided to have surgery at CBK. After surgery, it was far less difficult than I had expected. I could speak better than expected, so I returned to work quickly. What surprised me most was that the swelling was much less than after my previous double-jaw surgery or my first three-part contouring surgery. I also immediately noticed that breathing felt easier from right after surgery, perhaps because my airway had widened. It has now been about two years since surgery, and I am definitely satisfied with the aesthetic results. My friends say I look younger and cuter, while my mother smiles and says my childhood face has come back. I have also introduced the clinic to several friends. I have no numbness now and can eat without any problems. As someone who underwent revision surgery, it is very reassuring that even after two years I am living my daily life without any problems. Only after undergoing several surgeries did I finally think, “I really made the right decision entrusting myself to Dr. Choi Bong-gyun.” I even wish I had learned about CBK a little earlier. I am sincerely grateful to the doctor.
