Nose Surgery Reviews

A higher nose isn’t automatically a pretty nose... (I had revision surgery)

During my first surgery, I didn’t know much about rhinoplasty, so I thought a low nose would become pretty if it was simply made higher. So I raised it... But maybe the silicone was too high for me. Especially because the area between my eyes became much higher, I looked like an avatar from the side, while my bulbous nose stayed the same, so my whole nose just looked enlarged. I thought a bigger nose was pretty, but apparently it suits some people. Not me... Anyway. I was also really stressed about the area under my nose. Instead of the columella curving down roundly, it was tucked inward, so from below my nose looked a little pinched, if that makes sense...? My mouth also seemed more recessed. Because of these things, this time I wanted the nose tailored to my face, and I deliberately didn’t bring celebrity photos or ask for anyone’s exact nose. I said I wanted it not to look large on my face and to look slimmer. What I wanted was: a slightly rounded tip + a nose that wouldn’t look large (they said osteotomy wasn’t necessary, so I didn’t have it). We decided on silicone plus autologous costal cartilage, bulbous-nose correction, columella lowering, and nasolabial angle correction. It was a lot, haha;;;; But surprisingly, even after doing all that, it looks more natural than before surgery. Before, the bridge and tip both seemed overly prominent and looked awkward. Now the area between my eyes is lower, the tip comes out rounded, and the columella is lowered, so everything seems to connect more smoothly. From the front, I used to always reduce the nose width in photos because of my bulbous nose, haha. It was chubby before, but now it’s been refined, and I think it looks good enough. And about autologous rib cartilage—I was most scared of that before surgery. I had seen so many posts saying the rib-harvest site hurts more than the nose. In reality, it wasn’t unbearably painful for me, but it was uncomfortable for the first three or four days. You absolutely need time off. When getting up after lying down or turning over in bed, the rib area pulled dully, so I unconsciously moved extremely slowly to avoid tensing my abdomen ★ If you’re considering autologous rib cartilage, I really recommend a backrest cushion or back pillow..... They’re really inexpensive You can get one for around ten thousand won on Coupang.... I didn’t buy one in advance, so I struggled for a day. You can stack several pillows, but they slipped around and were uncomfortable for me Also, just because it’s been three months doesn’t mean the nose is completely soft. The hospital said it would soften from one month onward, but the tip is still somewhat firm when I touch it, and on days when morning swelling is severe, it sometimes looks plumper than usual lol.. It may just be in my head.. Still, compared with one month, I can see it gradually becoming slimmer, so it’s worth waiting.. Yeah.. For now, unlike after my first surgery, I don’t take photos and immediately reduce my nose first. If I could talk to my pre-first-surgery self, I’d tell her to look at many things instead of focusing only on bridge height. If you have questions about autologous rib cartilage or revision surgery, feel free to ask. I’ll tell you what I can based on my experience haha
