I had LASEK surgery on June 25. As soon as I turned 20, the first thing I did was treat my eyes. The clinic I went to is pretty well known in Bundang, and it was also the place that managed my orthokeratology lenses when I was younger, so I just came straight here without much hesitation. The doctor in charge seemed trustworthy, so I entrusted it to them right away. Originally, I wanted to get SMILE LASIK because I heard it doesn’t hurt and you can return to daily life right away, but this clinic doesn’t do that, and they said the only surgery that allows for possible revision surgery later is LASEK, so I just got LASEK. I think LASEK was also the cheapest option.
I couldn’t wear lenses for about 2 weeks, and after that I had various tests and went into surgery. Did it take about 15 minutes? There was just a smell like squid burning, and it didn’t hurt. But the week after that was really hard for me. My eyes stung so, so much that I couldn’t open them, and even when I closed them, they still stung the same. But pain-relief eye drops? I could put in eye drops that made the sensation disappear a bit, like they were anesthetized, up to twice a day, and when I used those, I was okay for about 30 minutes, so during that time I ate or enjoyed some freedom. haha
Then after 30 minutes it would hurt again, so I slept all day, lay down and talked on the phone, listened to e-books... Then maybe after 5 days, suddenly it stopped hurting, and I could see the world so clearly. I kept living while wearing UV-blocking glasses and sunglasses, and now, about 8 months later, I’m just going about daily life without any problems. But for about 2 or 3 months, when I looked at a computer screen continuously, I strongly felt like it was straining my eyes. And when I slept at night, my eyes got insanely dry, so my eyes hurt when I woke up.
It’s still very dry when I sleep, so I put in artificial tears frequently, and at night I use gel-type artificial tears, but it’s still okay! I really hope people with bad eyesight get LASEK or LASIK. I’m truly living a new life, and I’m grateful every day. Before, I couldn’t even see the letters on my phone right in front of me haha. Now I can see signs far away too, and it’s so good ㅠㅠ
As time passes, my vision keeps getting better. At first it came out as 0.9, but now it’s 1.0. I really, really recommend it!
