I started orthodontic treatment because of a protruding mouth + crooked teeth. My jaw is on the narrow side, so my lower teeth were crowded and bunched up. So I had 2 teeth removed from the top and 2 from the bottom, for a total of 4 extractions. I did not get any screws placed separately. It was fascinating how the teeth moved... As those spaces filled in, the protruding mouth naturally went in, and later, because the midline did not match, I also used elastics. Once it became a habit, the elastics got comfortable later too haha. They intentionally overcorrected it so that even if it shifts back later, the center would not become crooked. Now I live wearing retainers! My teeth are really straight haha. My nose was originally very low, but after orthodontic treatment, I also heard that my side profile seems to have improved a little. I do not regret getting orthodontic treatment!
