Before I went home, the surgeon explained that the columella was in worse condition than expected and that the previous clinic had done... well, quite a lot to my nose. The planned surgery was: implant-free costal cartilage particles + rhinitis and deviated septum correction. In reality, the columella contained septal cartilage, costal cartilage, and mesh, while the nasal bridge had small scattered costal cartilage particles. The mesh was something I had never even been told about, but I had already obtained my surgical records and consulted the surgeon who performed the previous surgery for confirmation before removal, so I was not even angry—just stunned! ^^ Anyway, I had been told beforehand that if a severe saddle nose appeared during surgery, they would use whatever cartilage was available, so I wondered whether they might use ear cartilage~ T_T. After removing everything from the columella, it became a very severe saddle nose, so they said they put back one of the straightest pieces among the removed costal cartilage. Looking at the intraoperative photos, it really was quite severe... It would have been awful to remove everything and simply close it, lol; I am so relieved they handled it properly 😳. In the end, I could not have everything removed, and a costal-cartilage support was left in place. They also said it should be fine because it is autologous cartilage. The moment I saw photos of my collapsed nose, all I could say was, “Oh, thank you,” so I am not disappointed about not having complete removal. The pain is a slight throbbing and some stinging around the incision. Right now I look like a purple mermaid avatar because of the bruising-and-swelling combination. I should keep doing cold compresses and taking walks ^^.. There are not many removal reviews, so I will visit fairly often and leave progress updates. Thank you to everyone for cheering me on in the comments. I will rest well and come back to write more~~!
