Nose Surgery Reviews

Revision rhinoplasty (bulbous nose, short nose, upturned nose)

I had natural-looking rhinoplasty 10 years ago using 1.2-mm silicone and ear cartilage. Raising the tip caused a slight upturned nose, and the bulbous nose correction was not complete. This time, after thinking about it when I saw a friend’s nose surgery, I went for a consultation. The director drew on my photos, and I liked it so much that I decided to proceed right away — autologous costal cartilage, short-nose correction, bulbous-nose correction, columella lowering, and consultation for rhinitis. The consultant was also very kind, and it was possible to proceed quickly. On the day of surgery, after a thorough examination and imaging, I learned that bone had grown after my previous surgery and that I had a dorsal hump, so that was added as well. On the day itself, nothing hurt except the area where the autologous rib cartilage was harvested. The first three days were very uncomfortable because of the cotton in my nose, but after it was removed, it really did not hurt at all. When the splint was removed on day 7, it felt so refreshing. I wondered whether my short, upturned nose would be corrected, but amazingly, my nose had come down so much. I am very satisfied because my nostrils are no longer visible! There was still a little yellow bruising on the bridge of my nose (it was completely gone by day 9), and it was still somewhat swollen, so I cannot say for sure how much the bulbous-nose correction has taken effect, but I am extremely satisfied that my nose has come down. I was worried that there might be a scar because the area under my nose had been opened twice, but perhaps because the director stitched it well, there is now almost no scar on the tip. I cannot wait for the swelling to go down and to see the finished result!!
