They did about 10 types of tests, a huge number, as soon as I went in. I had worn contact lenses for a long time, so my corneas were thin and I was told I could not have SMILE LASIK or anything similar, so I proceeded with LASEK. The operating room was freezing. Before the surgery started, they gave me a stuffed toy to hold and poured some cold liquid over my eyes, so I was absolutely freezing. During the procedure, they told me to look at a dot, but they kept pouring cold water and I was going crazy, then they scolded me for not looking at the dot properly. T_T
The first day was okay, but from the second day onward, tears kept streaming even when I stayed still. It took about a week to return to normal. Pain level: 3 stars. It hurt, but it was not unbearable.
It has been about a year now, and at night I see light spreading or haloing. It does not interfere with driving, and I can see well again after using artificial tears, although I do not know why that helps.
My dry eye has also become very severe. When I wake up, it feels as if there is sand in my eyes. I have to use artificial tears once in the morning, but I have no problems during daily life. I currently use artificial tears only once each morning.
Despite the dry eye and light halos, I would recommend it enough to do it again even if I could go back. Living without glasses is really convenient, and it is so nice not having to worry about contact lenses. People also say I somehow look prettier after having LASEK. I thought my eyes would look smaller and stranger without lenses, but apparently not.
