The reason I got LASEK was, first of all, because I was told it was safer since it is more resistant to external impact than LASIK! I was someone whose eyes were originally so dry that not even one drop of tears came out on the Schirmer dry eye test, and I was also told that because my pupils were large, glare would be severe. For almost 1 year? the dryness was so bad that I think I couldn't even go about daily life without artificial tears. One day I went out after forgetting my artificial tears, and while eating pork belly at a pork belly restaurant, my eyes were so dry but I had no artificial tears, so I couldn't keep my eyes open. Even now, I always have artificial tears with me. Since I have an office job and have to look at a computer all day, it's also an environment where my eyes can't help but get dry ㅜ But before, if I went one day without putting them in, daily life was impossible; now, even if I don't use them for several days, I don't feel that uncomfortable. As for glare, at first when I went outside in the evening, streetlights and car lights looked seriously scattered like fireworks, but now it's not like that at all. Sometimes when driving at night, cars coming from the opposite side look like they have their high beams on. But once I got used to it, it didn't bother me. There's nothing particularly uncomfortable when driving either ?? Before surgery, I had no glare at all! Oh, the pain after surgery wasn't painful at first, but it came exactly on day 3. It felt like my eyes were being burned, so I thought I was going to die from the pain.
My vision now, when I checked a few months ago, I think it came out as 1.2? 1.5. Because my job involves looking at a computer all day, I was worried my vision would get worse quickly, but I can still see well^^ They said my corneal thickness was truly unusually high, so I could have surgery again any number of times, but even if my vision gets worse from here, I still won't have revision surgery,,ㅠ I don't know if it's because of the dryness or because the cornea was removed, and it's hard to explain, but should I say my eyeballs themselves don't usually feel that healthy? They always feel a bit sore? And my eyes get tired easily, so I often feel like my eyeballs are going to fall out.
Conclusion: After surgery, along with good vision, I gained worse dryness and glare, even though I was already dry before. But still, I don't regret having the surgery. There is some discomfort, but I'm so satisfied with being able to see well! Even if I turned back time, I think I would definitely get LASEK. I'm satisfied because the discomfort I had when wearing contact lenses was greater than the discomfort I feel after LASEK surgery.
