I went around for consultations yesterday!! I live near Gangnam Station, so the accessibility was really good ㅠㅜ I haven’t done a ton of online research, so I picked just two places and went to them (if you’re curious which hospitals they are, ask in a private post and I’ll quietly tell you). My concerns are a hump nose/arrow-shaped nose + rhinitis, and both hospitals seemed really good. I’ll probably get it done at one of the two unless something unusual happens!
But there was exactly one thing where the two directors’ opinions didn’t overlap,, Everything else they said was similar, but what they said about this “rhinitis” part was different. Rhinitis surgery is called functional rhinoplasty, right?! One hospital is a “clinic” that also does functional rhinoplasty, and the other is just a “plastic surgery clinic.” So the director at the clinic said, “When doing hump nose surgery, we will do an osteotomy to smooth out the hump, and because the inside of the nose is deviated to the right in the upper part and to the left in the lower part, making it hard to breathe, we will perform the functional rhinoplasty together.”
The plastic surgery director said, “Honestly, I don’t think we should do an osteotomy. Of course, if we do an osteotomy, the hump can be shaved down more smoothly, but if we do an osteotomy, I don’t know the exact details, but there is a risk that the keystone? could be damaged, and if it is handled incorrectly, you could live without being able to smell. So if I operate, I’ll proceed without an osteotomy (of course, a tiiiny bit of the hump will remain).”
They said surgery would be possible without implants, and I also didn’t want to put in an implant because I want it to look natural but be safe,, Both were really good doctors, but because of this one thing, I’m debating where to do it. Everyone, which do you think is better? The place that also does functional rhinoplasty is actually 400,000 won cheaper! (If you ask about the price in a private post, I’ll answer.) I think I need to book the surgery date within 2 weeks to get the date I want, so please give me some advice. Totter totter..
