For my first surgery, only septal cartilage was used.
When I went for a revision surgery consultation, they said that depending on how the columellar strut was built in the first surgery, or on the nature? of my original septal cartilage,
reusing septal cartilage + ear cartilage alone might not be enough..
They said this cannot be known until they open the nose, and they were telling me about a worst-case possibility.
If they open the nose and it turns out that reusing septal cartilage + ear cartilage is not enough, they said donated rib cartilage would need to be added.
So to prepare for that situation, if I do not want donated rib cartilage, they said choosing autologous costal cartilage is also an option.
Honestly, I am reluctant to use donated rib cartilage,
but would it be right to choose autologous costal cartilage, even accepting a scar on my body, just for this one possible scenario?
(If I do autologous costal cartilage, I have to undergo general anesthesia, so I need to decide in advance before going into surgery ㅠㅠ)
To summarize: 1. Septal cartilage + ear cartilage (+ donated rib cartilage if insufficient! -> I do not want to use it ㅠ) 2. Autologous costal cartilage
I have to choose between these, and I am really torn..
