Because of cheekbones that stick out a lot and facial lines that sag as I got older, I had a very severe peanut-shaped face and a long midface, so if I got contour surgery, my balance could be thrown off and the result could look awkward. That made me spend a long time worrying about which clinic to choose. I knew deep down that the issue was bone, so surgery was the only answer, but contour surgery is a major operation and it’s hard to reverse, so I think I worried for a very long time. Then one day, one of the Instagram accounts I often watch posted a reel about contour surgery. I follow that account for livestreams too, so I sent a DM asking which clinic it was, and they said Cookie, then even sent proof of payment, so I booked a consultation. Before the consultation, I spent days and nights searching only for reviews, going through Instagram, YouTube, beauty apps, this community, cafes, everything. And I went in with the mindset of just hearing what the doctor would say. I asked a bunch of questions and even told them the exact face shape I wanted, and the doctor really calmly explained the problems with my face, showed cases explaining why the face shape I wanted wasn’t possible, and compared everything with my CT photos. They explained in detail the osteotomy method based on my protruding cheekbones and why the square jaw and chin also had to be done together so it wouldn’t look awkward. Honestly, there wasn’t much talk about the consultation reviews, so I didn’t expect much, but after the consultation my worries about surgery actually disappeared haha. After talking with the doctor like that, I ended up booking the surgery almost under a spell.. On the day of surgery, I was full of excitement and went through with it, and when I came out of the operating room and touched my tightly wrapped face, I was shocked that the cheekbone area’s line felt nothing like the line I was used to touching. Then I was even more shocked when I saw the CT a week later.. I honestly thought it was someone else’s CT because the before-and-after difference was that clear. During recovery I couldn’t even chew, forgot the joy of eating, and suffered for a long time, so I don’t think I could do it twice. I really respect people who go through revision surgery. Luckily, I got the result I wanted on the first try, so now I hear people say my face is small, and even when I do makeup, I pay more attention to the color products I want than to shading that creates face-shape angles. I spent a lot of money on surgery, but except during recovery, I never once thought it was a waste. I think it’s a surgery that raises both your satisfaction with yourself and your self-esteem a lot.
