One of the things I do not regret in life is getting LASIK. It is probably the best thing I have spent money on.
I had poor eyesight since elementary school, so I had been using glasses and contact lenses, and I lived a long time with a life of looking for my glasses first thing when I woke up in the morning.
My eyes were around -4.25 and -4.00 with some astigmatism, and my corneas were not especially thick. My vision was not extremely poor, so they ablated about 50-60 microns, and I think the machine was an Amaris Red.
I am the type who worries about side effects, so I went to 10 ophthalmology clinics. I went mainly based on recommendations from acquaintances and online searches for places with good reviews, and the most difficult part of the eye exam there was the test that dilates the pupils.
The reason I chose this clinic was... I think I was drawn to how confident the director seemed. Honestly, I was also getting tired after going to so many places.
For reference, there was also a place that turned me away because the back of my cornea was protruding.
Still, I decided to go through with it because hard contacts were uncomfortable, and soft contacts had become too dry and uncomfortable to wear, and even managing them had become bothersome...
I decided to have the surgery.
My night pupils were not especially large either, so maybe that is why... I do not have any halo or glare. As for dry eye, I recovered by consistently taking omega-3 and using artificial tears at first, and now I do not feel it.
Overall, if your conditions are good, you should be able to have the surgery without major problems.
