I had lens implantation in November after I turned 19 and finished the college entrance exam, so it has now been 2 years. The hospital I went to is much more famous for Dr. Park Hyeong-jik’s LASIK and PRK than for lens implantation. My older sister had PRK there, so I ended up getting lens implantation there too.
The surgery took about 10 minutes, and I had no aftereffects. Being able to return to daily life immediately is probably the biggest advantage of lens implantation.
Right after surgery my left and right eyes were 1.0 and 0.9, respectively, but when I went for my regular checkup last week, the left was 0.7 and the right was 0.5. I thought that was a big drop, but the doctor said it was still okay.
If you are going to do it, I recommend looking carefully and not limiting yourself to the hospital I used, because there are places that are even better at lens implantation. I have severe dry eye, so that may be why my vision dropped more. If you have bad dry eye, your vision can decline.

Anyway, even though my vision dropped like this, lens implantation can be reversed later, right? I’m planning to switch to better lenses when I’m in my 30s or so.
My original vision was negative in both eyes and I had very severe astigmatism, so I’m still satisfied even though my vision dropped. If someone is choosing between lens implantation, LASIK, and PRK, I recommend lens implantation the most out of those three!
