I had SMILE LASIK at Onnuri, and I think about 4 to 5 years have passed. First of all, I understood SMILE LASIK to be a surgery in which the doctor directly adjusts the laser by hand, so I knew that the more surgeries a doctor has done, the better they tend to be. I had known about it since it was first introduced in Korea, but I deliberately waited several years before doing it, haha. I think doctors are probably even better now, but anyway, I chose SMILE because of the advantage that recovery happens in just one day after surgery. First, I will explain the side effects. I don't know if the surgery simply did not go well, but my right eye recovered in one day, while my left eye did not and hurt. The big pain went away in one day, but the smaller pains and the foreign-body sensation took about a week to disappear. The clinic said there was nothing abnormal, and even after that, whenever my body gets tired or when dry autumn or winter weather comes, my left eye still feels very stiff and painful. I think dry eye developed after the surgery, and the left side is especially bad. Still, if I use artificial tears very consistently, it gets a little better, and when I am in good condition, there is no pain. On later checkups, they kept telling me everything was normal! Before surgery, I remember my vision was probably between 0.3 and 0.5, though I do not remember exactly. After surgery, the left eye was 1.0 and the right eye was 1.5, lol, so I ended up with uneven vision... haha. I am still annoyed about that part, but my vision has not dropped much since then and it has been maintained fairly well, so I am just living with it in satisfaction. As a tip, I think it is better to have the surgery in the morning when the doctor is in good condition. I was so busy with work that I ended up having it near the last appointment after finishing work, and I still regret wondering if it might have gone better at another time. I hope everyone thinks carefully and finds their own path to clear vision!
