Ever since I was little, every time I went to the dentist I was told I was basically a double jaw surgery case. Even from the outside, I could tell I had a pronounced underbite and facial asymmetry, so I knew it myself too. So for a long time, double jaw surgery had been on my mind, but I kept putting it off because I was scared, and then I finally went through with it! At first I started with the idea of correcting the crowded teeth rather than doing double jaw surgery. But once the crowding was straightened out, the jaw actually looked even more prominent T_T So while I was in orthodontic treatment, I asked the dentist if double jaw surgery was still possible now, and they connected me with Iyu Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery!! Having the dentist refer me directly really boosted my trust. That made me feel more at ease, and the reviews were good too, so I decided after the consultation. Now it has been a year since the surgery already, haha. Compared with the early stage, my facial line has really been refined a lot. These days, when I look in the mirror, I hardly think of it as a surgically altered face. It just feels like my own face. Daily life feels completely natural, and I eat everything without avoiding foods. Before, I was very conscious of my jaw, but now I barely think about it haha. To be honest, I cannot say the swelling is completely zero, but other people would not notice it. It feels like something only I know. Still, it might just be fat too lol;; haha awkward. Anyway, it is not the kind of swelling that used to stand out, so it is not something that bothers me. The overall facial contour has already settled, so I definitely feel less stress about angles or expressions. When taking photos, I smile much more naturally than before, and I am not freezing up while worrying about my jaw anymore!! The early recovery process was not easy, but looking back, I think that time helped everything settle more stably, and I am satisfied with my choice. I regret more that I spent so long just worrying about it. Now I only think I made the right decision!
