My lips tingled at night, but because I had been told this was part of the recovery process, I actually felt it was a sign that I was healing well. Aside from hard foods, I could eat most things, so it was very enjoyable to start eating foods again that I had not been able to eat before. Whenever I said I had surgery, many people said they had no idea at all because it looked so natural, and even my mother, who had strongly opposed it at first, gradually became satisfied~! So I felt very proud too..!! hahaha3 month markNow I had almost no trouble eating unless the food was really hard, and the parts that felt swollen were barely noticeable. From this point on, I started to feel that this face was finally my face, and the difficult time at the beginning, along with the brief regret, had become something that had already passed, to the point where I wondered why I had worried so much back then haha.4 month markThere were no major restrictions on eating, and even though the sensation had not fully returned, I had already become used to daily life, so it did not feel inconvenient. Thanks to consistently practicing speaking, my pronunciation gradually stabilized, and whereas people used to say hats did not suit me, after surgery I started hearing that hats suit me well, so I could really feel the external change too haha bb6 month markI could not believe that half a year had already passed, and from this point on I felt I was no longer waiting for swelling to go down, but waiting for nerve recovery. Subjectively, it felt like more than 60 percent of the sensation had returned! I had heard that on average it takes 1 to 2 years, so the recovery seemed fairly fast and that reassured me. By now, beyond feeling accustomed to it, my face had become so natural that it felt like I had been born this way, and I found myself just waiting for the day the adjustment would be finished!7 month markThe sensation in my upper jaw and upper lip had almost fully returned, and although my lower jaw was still recovering, I could feel it gradually improving. My pronunciation had never been particularly good, but because my jaw position changed, there were times when I felt I sounded a bit slurred, so I made a point of speaking a lot and kept practicing pronunciation.8 to 11 month markLately, people have especially often been asking why my face got so much smaller, and I am so embarrassed haha. But it feels awkward to say I had surgery, so I just laugh it off by myself, while inside I keep thinking I really did the right thing hahaha!!12 month mark, current!It is hard to believe that a whole year has already passed, because my current appearance feels so natural!! The sensation feels more than 90 percent back except for the front of the lower jaw, and since that is the farthest area it seems to be taking a little longer, but it is not a major inconvenience!!!! Before surgery, my mother was the strongest opponent and worried the most, but now she says I should have done it sooner, so I feel reassured and also deeply moved, and I am truly grateful to Dr. Kim at Ryu Oral Surgery for bringing about this result!!
