Hello. This is my 3-month review after double jaw surgery. Before the surgery, my biggest concern was that from the side, my chin looked like it was jutting forward, the so-called “witch chin.” Especially when I smiled, that part stood out even more, so I gradually became self-conscious about smiling, and when taking photos, I would turn my head so my side profile wouldn’t show. I thought facial shape has a huge effect on overall impression, and I wanted to improve it before it got any later, so I decided to have the surgery.
While looking into several hospitals, the fact that they only do one surgery per day was what built the most trust for me, and during the consultation they didn’t push for excessive changes but instead suggested a natural direction suited to my face, so I ended up choosing Y Oral Surgery. During the consultation, they explained each question in detail and were honest about side effects and the recovery process, which gave me confidence.
It has now been 3 months since the double jaw surgery and the 3 contouring procedures (square jaw, chin, cheekbones). I’m still in orthodontic treatment, so I can’t smile fully yet, but overall my chin is less prominent and shorter, and people often say I look much softer and cuter. Rather than being completely different from my previous look, it feels naturally refined, which makes me more satisfied. Even though it’s only been 3 months, I heard my swelling is on the low side, and above all, I was most relieved that there are no areas with absolutely no sensation, only some mild numbness in a few spots. That part is also gradually returning with time, so I’m most satisfied that the surgery seems to have been done safely.
Honestly, the recovery process was not easy. On the first day after surgery, I kept getting sleepy, probably because of the anesthesia, and felt mentally out of it. Starting on the second day, breathing was the hardest part. My butt also hurt a lot, and I remember just waiting for time to pass quickly. I think I was holding on just waiting for the nurses to come in.
Back home, I looked up reviews and saw a post about someone fainting while washing up without eating properly, so I tried my best to force down nutrition. Maybe because of that, my weight didn’t drop much. At first I thought the swelling peaked on day 3, but in reality it was at its worst around one week later. Looking in the mirror, I even wondered if I had to carry my face around with me, but after a week, breathing became much easier too.
Up until one month, it was hard to sleep flat without Otrivin, but at the one-month follow-up, the director said it would keep improving, and in fact once a month had passed, things became much more comfortable. Right now, only eating is a bit inconvenient, but daily life is almost the same as before surgery. I can recommend Y Oral Surgery.
