Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

One-year review after severe asymmetry, TMJ pain, and malocclusion: double jaw plus contouring x3

Hello. It has already been a year since I had double jaw surgery and contouring x3 surgery (cheekbones, square jaw, chin) at Y Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. When I first decided on the surgery and walked out of the hospital, I could only wonder when one year would ever come, but looking back, it was a period of change that felt long and short at the same time. I had always lived with severe asymmetry, TMJ pain, and malocclusion, and the inconvenience in daily life was significant. Rather than simply wanting cosmetic improvement, I decided to have the surgery because I wanted to solve functional problems, and thanks to the fact that Y really performed the surgery successfully, I am now living a life that is far more confident and changed than before. The most satisfying part is definitely the functional improvement. In the past, even chewing food was stressful, but now I can truly enjoy chewing, and the TMJ discomfort has improved beyond recognition. Just as much as the function, the outward result is also so excellent that I feel happy every time I look in the mirror. People around me also say my face line has become so smooth that I look prettier, and they often tell me the asymmetry is completely corrected and my jaw has tucked in, saying the surgery looks very natural and well done. There are still about 20 weeks left in the orthodontic process, but my chewing function and outward appearance have already improved so much that I’m spending everyday life happily without any hindrance. In truth, recovery is not easy for everyone, and I personally had a rather difficult time. When I struggled because of swelling and pain, I did waver mentally, but I kept holding on with the thought that this too would eventually pass, and at some point my body recovered as if by magic. If there are people reading this who are still in the recovery period after surgery and having a hard time, I want to cheer you on and say hang in there just a little longer. Right now I am handling everyday life very well with no pain or discomfort anywhere. I also want to manage the remaining mild swelling perfectly, so I’m keeping up with facial massage and going diligently to the dermatologist for aftercare, and I can see myself settling down more day by day.I was so satisfied with the result in every respect that even if I were to go back to the moment before surgery and face the choice again, I would have no hesitation about doing it once more. It was that significant an event and brought such a positive change to my life. I sincerely thank Director Lee Seok-jae and all the staff for creating such a good result and solving my concerns, and I hope everyone reading this is happy and healthy. Thank you.
