Hello. It has already been one month since I had double jaw surgery and contouring x2 surgery (square jaw, chin)! My biggest concern in everyday life was my jaw protruding forward like an underbite. Because my jaw stood out so much, I often felt that my face was not balanced overall, and as a result I naturally became reluctant to take photos in daily life or with friends. In particular, because of my protruding jaw, I was always bothered by my side profile, so I think I had subtle stress even in everyday life :(The reason I chose this hospital was that while I was looking into double jaw surgery during my military service, I first came across Y Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery through YouTube. After thinking it over for about three years, I decided to get a consultation, and during the consultation the coordinator and Director Lee Seok-jae explained everything very calmly and thoroughly, which made me feel a great deal of trust. They answered each of my questions sincerely and guided me in a way that was easy to understand from the patient’s perspective, which left a strong impression. Based on that trust, I decided to have the surgery. Another reason I chose this hospital was that after the surgery I could also continue orthodontic treatment here as well!! I thought that if I continued orthodontics at the same hospital where I had surgery, it would be easier to monitor the progress and quickly handle anything that came up, so that was also part of why I chose Y :)The biggest change after surgery is my face shape. My face feels smaller overall, and as the jawline was refined, I think I came to look much softer and more natural. My parents were extremely worried until the surgery, but now they seem to like it even more than I do 😃 They say I look younger than before and that my face seems to have come back the way it looked when I was little, so I’m even more satisfied too. There is still some mild swelling around my cheeks and face, but I think it will settle more naturally as time passes!!!! Even so, when I take photos, I come out looking clearly different from before, with a much neater and prettier face shape, so the 부담감 about taking photos has lessened a lot!! I heard that recovery differs from person to person, but for me there was some pain, nasal congestion, and a feeling of stuffiness from the day of surgery through the next day, but after discharge the pain was not very noticeable, and thanks to the prescribed medication I think breathing was also comfortable. Personally, I think the hunger from not being able to eat anything for two weeks was harder than the pain of the surgery itself. Since I had the surgery using the IVRO method, I had to keep my mouth banded shut for about two weeks and could only eat liquid food. At first I struggled because I was hungry, but I gradually got used to it by eating things like gomtang, soup, and strawberry banana milk, and I was able to get through the two weeks well. It has now been one month since the surgery, and aside from speaking, I don’t really have any discomfort in daily life. Seeing the swelling go down, I’m just waiting for the day when I’ll look even better than I do now!!! :) Overall, the time I spent worrying about surgery does not feel wasted at all, and I’m truly grateful to the director, the coordinator, and the nurses who took good care of me every morning, evening, and even in the early hours 😄😄
