Hello, it has been a month since I had two-jaw surgery and contouring procedures 2 (square jaw, chin) at Y Oral and Dental Clinic! First of all, since I was young, a major complex of mine was that when I took photos, my chin stood out especially strongly. Especially when I looked at side-profile photos rather than front-facing ones, I felt very strongly that my chin looked protruded, so I gradually started avoiding taking photos. It was not only an issue of appearance; because I had severe malocclusion, chewing food properly was very uncomfortable. Since my bite did not fit when eating, I often ended up chewing only on one side, and because I swallowed food without chewing it properly, I often had poor digestion. As these discomforts piled up, I became more and more stressed and kept becoming conscious of other people’s gaze. After a long period of deliberation, I came to think it would be better to have surgery before it got any later, and decided to go ahead with two-jaw surgery.Through cosmetic apps and communities, I searched very carefully for information about two-jaw surgery. While comparing reviews, surgical methods, and recovery processes from various clinics, I came across this clinic. In particular, the surgeon’s career and the fact that he performs only one surgery per day left a very deep impression on me. The fact that he focuses on one patient at a time gave me confidence, and when I went for a consultation, he checked my condition very carefully. Even when I asked questions one by one about the things I was curious about, he explained everything sincerely, which greatly reduced my anxiety about the surgery. After the consultation, I felt that this was a clinic I could trust and leave myself with, so I ultimately decided to have the surgery.Day 1 (the day of surgery) After I went into the operating room and briefly greeted the anesthesiologist, anesthesia was administered, and after that I have no memory. When I opened my eyes, I was already moved to a ward bed. The pain itself was more bearable than I had expected, but the hardest part was staying awake without sleeping in order to clear out the anesthetic gas. I had no strength in my body and kept feeling dizzy, so even lying down was uncomfortable, and because I had to avoid sleeping, time felt like it was passing extremely slowly. In the end, I think I spent that day almost completely unable to sleep.Day 2 The next day, the urinary catheter was removed and my strength gradually started to return. With the nurses’ help, I also slowly walked around the ward, but since my body had not fully recovered yet, every step was very cautious. Still, I definitely felt better than on the first day. However, my airway and nasal passages were badly swollen, so breathing through my nose was extremely difficult. Every breath felt stuffy, and because I had to breathe through my mouth, my mouth kept feeling dry. Since breathing was not comfortable, it was still hard to sleep deeply.Week 1 As time passed a little, I could feel my stamina gradually recovering. But my nose was still completely blocked, so having to breathe through my mouth all the time was very hard. Especially when sleeping at night, my mouth got so dry that I woke up often. Because I could only eat clear liquids, I always felt hungry, and foods I normally ate without thinking about them became especially appealing. It was also a time when I felt like the joy of eating had disappeared, which was a bit hard.Week 2 Since I managed swelling by taking a walk every day consistently, the major facial swelling began to go down little by little. At first my face was so swollen that even looking in the mirror felt awkward, but from this time on, my facial contours slowly started to show. I could also eat porridge that had been fully blended, so I was able to eat much more satisfyingly than when I was only on liquids. Thanks to that, the stress from feeling hungry also decreased a lot. My nose also slowly started to open up, so breathing gradually became easier, but there were still times when blood-tinged discharge came out of my nose, so I wiped it often and took care of it.Week 4 (currently one month) Now I can eat soft meat and relatively soft foods, so I am slowly regaining the pleasure of eating. More than anything, after removing the wafer in my mouth, my overall satisfaction with life definitely went up a lot. Moving my mouth became much easier, and speaking is becoming more natural little by little. The major swelling in my face has also gone down a lot, so daily life and meeting friends are not very uncomfortable. There is still a feeling that a bit of residual swelling remains, but compared with right after the surgery, it is truly much better. Before surgery, my lower jaw protruded a lot, so my bite did not fit properly, but now my bite is normal, and chewing food has become much more comfortable. In the past there were many moments when food did not chew properly and was uncomfortable, but now that part seems clearly improved, so I am satisfied. More than anything, the jaw area that had been my biggest outward complex feels much more balanced, so every time I look in the mirror I think I’m glad I had the surgery.Although I have not fully recovered yet, just seeing this much change in one month makes me satisfied, and I am focusing on the recovery process while looking forward to the day when the swelling goes down more and things become more natural.
