Since elementary school, I had a bad bite, and because my lower jaw protruded more than my upper jaw, I often heard from friends that my lips looked thick, and I felt that my facial asymmetry made me look odd. In particular, when I looked at photos taken by other people rather than selfies, I saw how severely asymmetrical my square jaw was, and my self-esteem dropped a lot. On the other hand, I often heard that double-jaw surgery is the most painful of all cosmetic surgeries, so I could not even imagine doing it until my mid-20s. Then, through YouTube, I heard that Director Lee Seok-jae of Y- Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery always prays before surgery and performs the operation, and watching double-jaw contouring vlogs eased some of the worries I had. This is my life, and since you only live once, I wanted to get rid of my appearance complex before I turned 30. I felt I could trust him, so I decided to have double-jaw surgery and contouring type 2 (square jaw, chin) at Y Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The nurses at the hospital were also kind and prepared everything with sincerity. Before surgery, my hemoglobin level was low, so I received transfusions several times. On the day of surgery, when I put on the surgical gown and looked in the mirror, I felt nervous but also reassured. After general anesthesia, for about 20 seconds I felt nothing at all, just that I was asleep. Then I heard the nurses calling my name, and they moved me to the ward by wheelchair. Right after surgery, when I was awake, it was hard to breathe and I felt stuffy for one or two hours, but listening to music made it bearable. Whenever I fell asleep, the nurses woke me up and said I could not sleep, and even at dawn they gave me painkillers and antibiotics. From the second day I started walking, and watching surgery vlogs on YouTube made me feel like I was not alone, which encouraged me a lot. I was told it was good to walk very slowly, so I walked around the ward a lot while hospitalized, and from the day of surgery through day 5 I also did ice packs diligently. Around days 4 to 5, the swelling was at its worst, and I kept getting bloody phlegm in my throat, so I drank warm water often and in large amounts. My nose stayed blocked, but they told me absolutely not to blow it, so I was careful. The effect of Otrivin was temporary and it can cause side effects that make the nose swell more, so I used it only once and then let my nose open naturally. By the time a week had passed, my nose had opened and breathing became easier. In week 2, my upper lip was still quite swollen, but overall the swelling gradually went down, and until weeks 3 to 4 I made sure to eat finely blended porridge and Newcare. I was worried that if I did not get enough nutrition, I would still feel weak even after recovery, so I made sure to eat rice and Newcare regularly at every meal. I am really glad I had double-jaw surgery on February 2, 2026, early in the year, because if I had had cosmetic surgery even a little later or not at all, I would have regretted it a lot. Meeting an experienced and skilled doctor like Lee Seok-jae at a trustworthy hospital was truly lucky, and I am very grateful for creating such a natural line without looking artificial. I am still recovering in week 5, but just thinking that I no longer have to live my younger days with an appearance complex gives me confidence and makes me imagine the days ahead. I think especially women probably all want to become prettier. For that reason, if you have wounds from appearance-related pain that you have been carrying alone like I did, I recommend not postponing and getting double-jaw surgery by your mid-20s or early 30s at the latest. I recommend Y Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, where they do their best to perform the surgery so you do not regret your choice :)
