Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

After jaw surgery, even my tongue position changed..?

Hello It's been 3 months since I had orthognathic surgery and contouring surgery for 2 areas, the square jaw and chin, at Y Oral Surgery on March 19. The text below is what I wrote when I first booked the hospital consultation. Since childhood I had a mild underbite and malocclusion, and I was always advised to get orthognathic surgery after growth was complete. I had orthodontic treatment a few years ago, but my upper and lower teeth are hitting each other again. Back then, my lower gum collapsed, so I even had gum graft surgery, and rather than getting orthodontic treatment again, I am now belatedly considering jaw surgery as the root cause. Earlier, cosmetically it was only a mild underbite, but now, after orthodontics, it is more of a frontal appearance that is horizontally a bit wider than the side profile underbite. Do you see my concern haha The criteria I used to choose the hospital were: - oral and maxillofacial surgery rather than plastic surgery - one surgery per day - 공개 CCTV - orthodontic clinic operated together - the doctor’s career history (I learned from the website that his father was also an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, which somehow increased my trust) Haha It has been 3 months, and there is one thing that feels the most amazing. Before, my tongue was always pushing my lower teeth forward, so the dentist told me to practice placing the tip of my tongue toward the upper teeth. I really could not do it well, but after surgery the tip of my tongue is naturally directed toward the upper teeth. Considering that I only started orthodontics not long ago, I think this change happened solely because of the change in my jaw and oral structure. The swelling has now gone down a lot, and even more than the swelling, what worried me was the overall unnaturalness of the facial muscles! That now seems to have come back about 80 percent, so I am happy. The part where sensation still has not fully returned is the lower jaw area. Especially the area below the corners of the mouth seems really slow. Now I can eat crunchy foods as long as they are not hard foods that need strong jaw force, and honestly I also eat hard foods by cutting them into very small pieces haha Cutting things was so difficult that recently I even bought child-sized radishes for kkakdugi. It saves me time because I do not have to cut as much! lol A few days ago I also cut up and ate boneless fried chicken. I have not met friends all that often, but since acquaintances usually catch visible changes faster than the detailed inside of my mouth, they mostly comment that my face looks slimmer haha I hope the movement of my facial muscles and the remaining swelling settle down a little faster. The very last part of recovery really does seem to be the slowest. I think the right attitude after jaw surgery is to relax a little and wait generously, even up to a year. I am also planning to lose the extra weight I gained from eating too well haha I want to be patient.
