3 weeks after full removal of L-shape silicone + ear cartilage review (long post warning)

I got a nose job 15 years ago without knowing any better. It turned out so natural that it was just natural, not a pretty or especially good nose, and I lived on without any major problems (around 9 years after the surgery, my nose hurt a lot and I went around for removal consultations, but it was treated with antibiotics - I’ll write about that again next time). Recently, a family member said the bridge of my nose looked blue. I had no pain at all, but when I looked very carefully, it really was blue (I had not noticed until then). I made an appointment right away and went for a consultation. They said it was basically the early stage of contracture. I booked the earliest possible date and had surgery. Since the first surgery used silicone and ear cartilage, they said removal would be relatively simple. They said they would preserve the ear cartilage so the tip would not change shape, and that only removing the silicone would lower the bridge. I chose a closed approach with silicone removal only (open approach would be done if needed during surgery), but after the surgery the doctor said there had been L-shaped silicone in my nose...? They said that in the past, only a tiny bit of ear cartilage had been taken and that it had already been crushed flat by the silicone (holy..........) So the ear cartilage was removed entirely too. The tip had been tightly tied up, but since it had already been there so long, it would have been fixed in place, and they said they loosened all of that. They also showed me photos of the removed capsule. It was done with a closed approach, and because the surgery holiday and weekend were included, I kept the nose packing in for 4 days. When the splint was removed, my nose looked rectangular and boxy, but after just 3 to 4 days, the boxy swelling went down a lot. I was worried the tip of my nose might change shape because the ear cartilage was removed, but no, if anything, it looks lower to me now. Before, when it was that damn L-shaped silicone, it looked even more like an upturned nose. And when I had the silicone nose, the bridge looked narrow too (the bridge at the start of the silicone) but once that was removed, the bridge did get lower, yet the overly narrow bridge disappeared, so my facial proportions look much better. Even though only 3 weeks have passed and the contraction phase could still come, along with other issues, I also got a lot of help finding the hospital here, and I thought this kind of review would at least bring some peace of mind to those worried about full removal, so I ended up writing a long post even though I am not good at writing. Next time I will prepare properly and upload a few photos!! I hope people realize that full removal is not as ugly as they might think, and that reconstruction is not the only option!
