I had double-eyelid surgery around 2012–2013, you know? But starting about three months ago, one side’s crease gradually became fainter and then completely disappeared;; I didn’t realize it, but once the crease loosened, I unconsciously started using a lot of forehead strength to open my eyes. My eyes also looked dull, and people around me kept asking why I was always trying to open my eyes with my forehead. That was when I realized it too. I have some fat in my eyelids, and I disliked how thick my eyes looked, so during this revision I really wanted fat removal as well.
When choosing a clinic, there were a few things I considered important: 1. Make it genuinely natural, around the height of my existing crease. 2. Avoid an incision if possible (but if it is just going to loosen again, an incision is the answer). 3. Make my eyes look clear and open without using forehead strength.
I emphasized these points a lot, lol. Since I live in Gunpo, I was thinking of going somewhere nearby, but after searching this community and YouTube, I looked around clinics known for revision eye surgery and creating good creases. I found Olo Plastic Surgery, and decided to go there as a final option before making my decision. I went determined to check only this place, lol.
When I went in for the director’s consultation, they examined me very carefully, just as rumored. I had expected the clinic to be crowded with long waits because the doctor was said to be skilled, but nope nope nope... It was calm and comfortable.
During the consultation, I said I really wanted to avoid an incision because it felt too burdensome, but I was also worried the crease might loosen again. The doctor examined my eyelid skin thickness, the scar from my previous partial incision, and the adhesion, then gave me an honest diagnosis.
Because one eye had already loosened and I opened my eyes using forehead strength, they said that if I had buried sutures or non-incisional surgery this time, there was a high chance it would loosen again soon. They explained that compared with having another revision after it loosened again, it would be much clearer and cleaner to use an incision to secure the loosened crease firmly, while also performing ptosis correction and fat removal. Since I had already been considering an incision, I actually felt relieved.
When creating the crease, they kept raising it in tiny adjustments to check it at the natural height I had wanted from before. The moment I looked in the mirror, I blurted out, “Yes, this is it,” so I was 100% embarrassed;;; I also consulted about lateral and lower canthoplasty, and emphasized that I absolutely did not want an artificial D-shaped look or an overly gentle-looking appearance—I wanted a natural widening, no matter what. haha
After the consultation, I felt this was the place, so I asked the coordinator to adjust the cost a little, made a same-day reservation, and scheduled the surgery. The reason I decided immediately despite it being revision surgery was that the crease looked that good..
Since I had an incision along with lateral and lower canthoplasty, there was some swelling and bruising on the first and second days. But with proper cold compresses and medication, the major swelling dropped quickly from the third day. Recovery was fast after removing the stitches, similar to my first surgery.
I had been extremely worried about scarring from the incision, but perhaps because the doctor sutured it as thinly and neatly as a thread, once the scab fell off, the crease quickly became smooth. It has now been about three months, and whether my eyes are closed or I am talking normally, there is almost no awkwardness. Overall, it looks natural and suits my face well, so I am satisfied.
