Hello. I had silicone and ear cartilage surgery 8 years ago, and until the beginning of this year I was satisfied and living without any problems. Around May, after getting both type A and type B influenza, I started to feel a dull, sore sensation just above the left nostril on the tip of my nose. It is only around 1 cm in that exact area. It does not hurt when I touch it. When I left it alone, it would throb and sting. After I recovered from the flu, it got better, but when I got tired it would ache badly again, and then if I slept for a long time and rested well, it would improve. It has been continuing like this until July. I went to the hospital where I had the surgery a long time ago, but because there was no swelling, no redness, and only that specific spot above the left nostril was sometimes aching and sometimes easing up, and because the pain is not visible, they said it was definitely not inflammation. The doctor said that if it were inflammation, it would swell a lot, and that one possible explanation is that if the skin on the tip of the nose becomes thinner, the tip cartilage may press against the skin and cause a throbbing pain, so if I have time, we should smooth it down. He said antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medicine are for inflammation, so medicine probably would not help. I insisted, so I did get medication that day, but even if I take it, the soreness comes back whenever I am tired. I went to the hospital again today, and they said it is not inflammation and that I am just being too sensitive. But this is pain that I did not have for 8 years, so I cannot help being sensitive. Pain is not something you can see, so I cannot prove it either.. When I asked about smoothing the tip cartilage, they said that if it is smoothed, the soreness might go away or it might not. Has anyone had a case like mine, where there is only intermittent throbbing and soreness in one specific area without swelling or redness? I am asking. (I am actually scared of surgery and do not want it, so I honestly do not want to have it smoothed either.) If it keeps going on, should I try smoothing the tip cartilage first? The counselor at the clinic said I come too often and that if I am not going to have it smoothed, let us wait until next year--; ;
