People kept saying I’d lose my glabella definition, so I mentally prepared a lot before the splint came off. But after it came off, when I looked from the side, the bridge between my brows was still there and the side profile looked pretty, so I’m shocked and posting.
I had nose surgery 24 years ago with Gore-Tex and cartilage, and over the past 20 years the tip kept drooping more and more until one day it turned into a flat, dumpling-like nose. So last year I had the Gore-Tex removed and got revision surgery with silicone.
The doctor said he used donated rib cartilage to keep the tip from drooping again, and also used septal cartilage along with it; he also harvested ear cartilage, and because my skin was thin he added MegaDerm too.
Come to think of it, whose cartilage did they use the first time? It wasn’t my ear, lol.
But right after the revision, my nose was really crooked, and the septum was visibly collapsed sideways from the inside. Because they had added all kinds of material to the septum, the support column became really thick and my nose turned into a hooked nose. Since the septum was bent and collapsed inside, I could barely breathe through my right nostril. The mucosa on the right side was also so swollen that it seemed to have become scar tissue and wouldn’t go down.
On top of that, the starting point of the silicone was shifted to the left, so the bridge sloped diagonally downward, the left nostril was pinched, the tip was twisted, and the columella was diagonal too. It was crooked from the top view, crooked from the front, crooked from below, a complete mess.
Still, I lived with it for over a year without looking in the mirror much, just enduring it somehow.
Recently I changed jobs and ended up getting bullied a bit by my supervisor at work. I quit after three months, but from my first day on the job until one to two weeks after quitting, my nasal bridge kept tingling and itching. It felt like a single strand of hair was sticking up there.
But scratching the outside didn’t feel relieving, and it felt like the silicone inside my nose was itching. Since it didn’t feel better, I kept scratching, and the skin even peeled.
So when I quit, I got really scared and thought, this is bad, I’m going to get inflammation, and immediately went for a removal consultation and had surgery.
But the consultation was three weeks later, so while I was waiting, the itching got better. lol
I learned about the top three removal doctors here in a community, went to the hospital website, looked through all the before-and-after photos, checked the director’s appearance too lol, and decided this was the one. I picked just one place, got a consultation, and booked the date right away.
I just felt like that doctor had the vibe of the best doctor in the country lol.
It’s been one week now and the splint is off. Of course, from the front, from the bridge to the tip, it’s swollen like a little nose bun, and maybe because of the swelling it even feels like the bridge is bent the other way, so it’s hard to look at. But when I look from the side, the bridge is high and it’s exactly my dream line, so I’m shocked and writing this.
Now I’m worried that the glabella and nasal bridge will sink in real time Today is my seventh day. For those who had complete removal, how was it? Did the glabella, bridge, and tip all sink a lot afterward?
