I’m going to lay out my review of the nose-surgery consultation. About 6 years ago, I had my eyes and nose done together at a now-closed place called [Clinic A]. I was only 19 at the time, so I ended up booking surgery right after the consultation.. (please, everyone, do a lot of research before deciding) Still, I was very satisfied with my eyes. For the nose, I had silicone plus functional rib cartilage. As time went on, the shape of the nose line lowered and got weird, and from the front my nostrils looked wide open, so after worrying for several weeks I decided to get revision surgery after quitting my job. I did all four consultations in one day.. lol It really felt like I was running around all day.. I also looked up a lot of other people’s reviews, and with the thought that this would really be my last surgery, I ran around gathering information. The list I narrowed down was [Clinic B], [Clinic C], [Clinic D], and O&Young, where I had surgery. I won’t point to any specific hospital, but the consultation time, service, friendliness, price, and so on were all completely different. One place was absolutely the worst because staff were talking with profanity inside an elevator full of customers, and I honestly thought I should have gone somewhere else instead. There was also a hospital I seriously debated with the place I eventually had surgery at.. but that’s not really the important part. Anyway, the saying that you really need to do a lot of legwork is not empty, so please go to many consultations before deciding! The most important point that made me decide on revision at O&Young was the consultation time. At the other places, consultations were only about 5 minutes at the shortest and at most 10 minutes. Of course, I understand the doctors have packed surgery schedules, so that can happen. But even that short consultation did not feel worth the 3 to 4 hours round trip I spent getting there.. Honestly, it felt like, “Well, whether you do it here or not, whatever.” But only at O&Young did I spend almost an hour talking mostly with the doctor. They say the doctor performs surgery on only one patient a day, and even so, the fact that he spent an hour consulting with someone who might not even end up getting surgery was so moving. Not only that, but because my nose is very small and low compared to other people’s, the doctor said that beyond the shape itself, we had to create an ideal and normal nose, and that really felt right. I’ll post the details later, but when I was younger I was nicknamed Voldemort, so I was born with a very unattractive nose. Unlike others who focused only on shape, he seemed like a doctor who values the overall balance of the face most, almost like the father of the medical profession. Also, the consultation director at O&Young was a man in his 30s or 40s, unlike at other hospitals where the consultants were women around my age. In plain words, he had the vibe of someone highly experienced, with knowledge on par with the doctor’s and a very comfortable manner of responding, which made the comparison with the other hospitals very noticeable! O&Young Plastic Surgery is a specialist hospital where revision nose surgery makes up a much larger share of the nose surgeries, so if you’re considering revision, definitely go get a consultation once! Revision surgery has many more things to pay attention to than first-time surgery, and each person has different issues, plus the doctors’ surgical methods to solve them vary widely, so I recommend doing plenty of research and getting as many consultations as possible. I’ll bring back more later~
