Nose Re-Surgery

Secondary revision with ear cartilage instead of donor costal cartilage, or full removal

I had my first surgery with donor costal cartilage because I heard that if you put in ear cartilage, it can sag after a few years. But it’s harder and the foreign-body sensation is much stronger than I expected.. When I look at people I know who had ear cartilage used, many of them haven’t sagged even after more than 10 years. Would it be better to do a revision with ear cartilage? Or would full removal be better?

With full removal, there would be no foreign-body sensation at all, but the shape would go back to the way it was originally. If I do a revision with ear cartilage, the shape wouldn’t change, but the foreign-body sensation would remain, or it might sag later, so I’m worried about that.. For reference, I’m not using an implant, and because the donor costal cartilage placed at the tip made my septum thicker, the airway opening also got narrower.

They say my septum was already weak to begin with, so was this really the best option..? What do you all think?
