It has been 9 months since my cheekbone and square-jaw surgery, so I wanted to leave a review. If you look at my before photos, it is obvious, but because of my protruding cheekbones and square jaw, my face looked wide and angular, and that stressed me out, so I decided to have surgery.
I visited a lot of hospitals. In total, I think I consulted at about 10 places. I went to both large hospitals and private clinics, but some places had consultations that were too short, long waits, and a factory-like feeling, so I did not like them much.
So I set my own criteria and went around doing my research. The most important things I looked at were whether the operating room was recorded by CCTV and whether the video could be disclosed, whether an anesthesiology specialist was on site, and the hospital system overall.
Even though people say things have improved a lot these days, I felt uneasy if it was not a place I could verify with my own eyes. And since many places have CCTV but do not actually disclose the footage, I felt it was meaningless. [Clinic A] could both record and disclose the footage, so I think that is why I trusted it...
I also confirmed that an anesthesiology specialist was on site, which made me feel more at ease about safety. The staff were generally kind, and it felt like the director was someone the whole team trusted.
The consultation was the decisive part. As soon as I went in, the impression was good and they were kind, and after listening to me all the way through without interrupting, they explained everything according to my facial structure.
Rather than pushing just one style, they explained things in a way that made sense for me personally. At first, I had gone in thinking about triple contouring, but they also pointed out unnecessary areas based on my facial proportions and explained carefully that I could achieve the face shape I wanted with just double contouring, so that was when I became sure.
I went with my parents too, and they said it was the place they liked best out of all the consultations they had been to, so we looked at each other and put down the deposit right away..... lol
Even during recovery after the surgery, it was nice that the director personally came by once more to check my condition. The hospital stay was only one day, but my guardian could stay with me until 8 o'clock, and at night the nurse kept checking my condition, so I felt reassured.
I also liked that they do not use a blood drain here. They said it would not be necessary if hemostasis was done well, and I really did not have one, so it felt less uncomfortable.
What I felt about the aftercare was that it was really good... Please look at day 3, week 1, month 2, and month 6. On day 3, they did a CT scan and explained it by comparing it with before surgery, and also disinfected the surgical area. At week 1, they removed the stitches and immediately started swelling management. They said I could call anytime if needed, but since I did not have any major discomfort, I did not contact them separately. Then at month 3 they checked again with CT, so I felt they were a hospital that really pays attention to follow-up care.
Honestly, the first week after surgery was a bit hard. I mostly just slept, and chewing was uncomfortable. Because of the nature of cheekbone surgery, you also cannot blow your nose, so if you have rhinitis it is even more uncomfortable.
But maybe because I recovered quickly, I started eating soft foods around 1.5 weeks, and by around 2 weeks I was eating almost everything. I even cut radish kimchi into small pieces and ate it, and after about a month I was eating almost everything by chewing... lol
Now it has been 9 months, and the lines have settled completely. The protruding cheekbones have been corrected, the square-jaw angles are gone, my face looks much smaller, and overall it feels softer.
If anyone is worried about contouring surgery, I would tell them to do a lot of research and decide carefully. I truly think contouring surgery was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life.
