Nearly 6 Months After Full Nasal Removal

[photo removed] I said I’d keep a record until the 1-year mark, so I’m bringing my 6-month update. Before removal: 3 mm silicone bridge, tip with ear cartilage, 12 years old Procedure: incision, full removal, and only tip cartilage repositioning My satisfaction is 4.5 out of 5. It definitely looks more comfortable than a surgical nose, and because it’s a change only I know about, I didn’t end up looking drastically uglier. Since there was silicone from the glabella, the bridge looks a bit flatter now, so it feels less three-dimensional, but the masculine look is gone and it looks softer, so I’m satisfied. The bridge silicone had been sitting really tightly in place, and there was silicone bone erosion, so I think because of the erosion plus bone growing along both sides, they shaved off quite a lot of the bridge bone... The surgery took a long time, and the doctor said the bridge condition was pretty serious. When I had the surgical nose, there were blood vessels standing out in the N-shaped area where the bone had eroded. They said that even after seeing all 3 major hospitals, that part wouldn’t improve. It still shows a little now, but it is improved compared with the surgical nose. The reason I deducted 0.5 points is that the left cartilage at the tip sometimes makes a crunching sound when I wrinkle my nose... T_T I was also handling my nose rather carelessly and I used to wrinkle it a lot, so as long as I don’t do that, it’s fine, so I’m watching it for now. I can get some piggy-nose movement, but I still can’t press it down hard yet, and the columella area feels a little firm yet soft. Also, the columella protruded slightly, and they said that during the surgical nose phase the cartilage shape had changed a bit? or been damaged? I heard the left and right cartilages were a bit different, but I can’t remember. Since I mentioned the crunching at the tip, the hospital told me to come in. When they checked the last follow-up (at 5 months), they said, "Looks fine, doesn’t it?" and said recovery was going well. They also said it won’t collapse now, and if it were going to collapse, it would have already collapsed by now. They said it would be okay unless someone hit my nose or there was a major accident. There’s no abnormality in shape or function, but I’m still going to keep watching it. The scar on the nose is not very visible, and right after washing my face or after drinking alcohol, the surgical area gets red. If you look closely, there is a whitish mark... Overall, I’m satisfied! I think I’ll be even more satisfied if I can move my nose freely and the occasional crunching disappears.
