Today I went with my mom to two consultations because we’re both planning to get double eyelid surgery. It’s my first double eyelid surgery, so I searched around on Gangnam Unni and chose clinics, and I only just found out about this community,,,,ㅠ Anyway, here’s my review. If anyone knows anything about the clinics below, please leave a comment!
1) Sinsa TS Consultation fee 10,000 won Director Lee Seung-chan First of all, the consultant was kind and it felt like she was consulting sincerely. Including all the waiting time, I think it was about 30 minutes. The consultation with the director wasn’t long, but (that’s because my mom and I didn’t know muchㅠ so we didn’t ask many questions..) he designed the line several times and explained well whether we had any questions, what kind of procedure it was, and what the differences were.
Me: I only have a thin inner double eyelid on one eye, so I wanted a natural line that would make them symmetrical. He said my skin is slightly thick, but non-incisional surgery is possible. He said I don’t need anything else like canthoplasty or ptosis correction. My eye-opening strength is good and it’s my first surgery, so non-incisional natural adhesion would be enough.
Mom: Her biggest concern was irritation/oozing due to sagging eyelids. My mom’s skin is quite thick, so he said she should have upper eyelid surgery below the eyebrow with fat repositioning above the eye, and that double eyelid surgery would definitely come undone if done by buried sutures. He said if she only wants to address the drooping eyes, she could try buried sutures first, but my mom also wants double eyelids, so we consulted for incisional double eyelid surgery together with upper eyelid surgery below the eyebrow.
What I liked was that since it’s my first surgery and I don’t know much, I asked because I was also curious about canthoplasty and other procedures, but they told me to only do the things I was concerned about, that I’d be fine without anything else and didn’t really need them, so they didn’t recommend additional procedures. Also, the clinic’s reassurance systems? like CCTV and post-surgery AS seemed well set up, and the fact that they emphasized this made them feel trustworthy. Overall I was satisfied with the consultation, so I paid a deposit and came back. They said if I cancel the appointment, only 90% of the deposit will be refunded.
2) Gangnam Premier Director Kang Min-seok No consultation fee
Maybe because the consultant at #1 was very kind, this consultant felt somewhat formal and I didn’t feel like she was really taking care of me. Also, when I first consulted with the consultant, she said things so differently from clinic #1 that I wondered if this was right.. At #1 they said my eyes protrude a bit, but here the consultant said my eyes are rather sunken and that the doctor would probably mention correction for sunken eyes, but during the actual consultation, the director didn’t mention sunken eyes at all. Because the chief director is famous, I said I wanted to have it done by him, but they said his surgeries were fully booked until the end of January, and since it’s the same procedure, rather than paying more, Director Kang is also really good at eyes, so they recommended Director Kang.
Me: He said the same thing as #1. In addition, he said if I wanted, doing ptosis correction and a slight medial canthoplasty would be good. I said I didn’t want medial canthoplasty.
Mom: For my mom too, he recommended the same surgical method as #1. I was worried because what he said was so different from the consultation with the consultant, but since it was the same as #1, I felt relieved.
Overall, the consultation with the director was kind, detailed, and good. But I’m a bit unsure because I didn’t really hear why ptosis correction is needed. I paid a deposit here for now too because they said I had to reserve the same day to get the discounted price. But somehow I’m more drawn to #1, so I’m thinking of getting a refund and just put down the deposit by bank transfer for now.
I had originally booked one more place, but consultations were more exhausting than I expectedㅜ Both places recommended procedures in the same general direction, so I canceled one. I think we’ll end up doing it at one of these two clinics. For my mom, the cost was the same, and for me, #2 was more expensive because ptosis correction was added. For now, I’m more drawn to #1... Did I consult properlyㅠ Should I look more and consult at other places too!? It’s really hard..
