Ah... before going to the consultation, I saw the person who gave it 1 point and thought, what on earth are they talking about, why did they get upset all by themselves? The other reviews didn't seem that bad, so I thought it would be fine and went. It really ended up being the worst experience I've ever had at a hospital... I've been to four places so far, and this was the most frustrating one, so this is not a judgment based on this one hospital alone. I went for a revision rhinoplasty consultation, and first of all, aside from the shape, the tip of my nose was hurting too much, so I went. I was taking antibiotics and, as I felt it, it was serious, and at other hospitals too, they said the Medpor used for the support structure seemed to be causing problems, and that the silicone tip could also be the issue, so surgery would have to be done anyway, but the methods differed by hospital, or in places that didn't seem urgent yet, they said that if it kept causing problems it would have to be done. But this doctor conveyed the same thing in a way that made me feel terrible. Apparently the fact that I'm in pain is just my subjective feeling? Since there was no severe swelling, pus, or visible protrusion of an implant like silicone or Medpor, they said my pain was only subjective. There was no way to objectively judge it as a problem. And although they said they themselves had used Medpor in the past and now do many removal surgeries, there is no guarantee that Medpor itself necessarily causes problems, when I told them that I didn't know Medpor had been used in my first surgery because it wasn't mentioned, and that I only found out after asking the hospital where I had the surgery this time, they treated me like a patient who had come only now to remove Medpor because I felt uneasy about it, and like a patient making a fuss over something that wasn't even a big problem.. I was only trying to solve the pain, whether it was Medpor or silicone or whatever, because it kept hurting and my nose inside seemed to be getting worse. (Even if it doesn't show on the outside, I can't even smile because it hurts all the time, so that's not normal, right?) I had just come to solve that problem. When I said I wasn't thinking Medpor was definitely the problem, just that it hurt and pulled, and that I wanted to fix whatever the problem was, they said there are many patients who are older and just remove all the implants, and showed me patients who had had implant removal surgery, then suggested using Medgraft in case the bone was carved strangely... If the implant is bothering me and I want to remove it, why suggest Medgraft when it doesn't have a 0% side-effect rate either... Of course it can help smooth out irregularities, but the conversation kept feeling like it wasn't connecting. Finally, since my columella is slightly twisted, and another hospital's CT results also showed the silicone going in sideways, I asked whether that could be causing the problem, and they said all faces are asymmetrical to that degree... I was at a loss for words. Of course I know my face is asymmetrical too, but then I thought they would say it probably isn't because of that but because of some other reason, and while the exact cause would have to be seen by opening it up, it seems like it might be a problem for these reasons, so we can fix this. I expected some consultation like that. Instead, it felt like my pain was just my personal feeling, and they were making me into a patient who was only making a fuss because a little cartilage was visible near my nose. It felt like going to the hospital with terrible stomach pain, having a CT scan, being told there's no problem, and being sent home with 'the pain is just subjective pain felt by the patient.' It was so absurd I didn't even want to think about it anymore.
The coordinator was very kind and nice. But because the doctor was like that, it was enough to make me regret going.
