To celebrate turning twenty, I wanted to get double eyelid surgery in January, so after looking into about 20 places online, I referred to communities like this one, blogs, and Theqoo, and decided on clinics famous for pursuing natural-looking eyes.ᐟ.ᐟ
1. ㅈㅅㅌ (Director ㅊㅎㄱ) Consultation fee? It came out to around 10,000 won, and the consultation was about 30 minutes long, longer than ㅇㄹㅈ. The space between my eyes and eyebrows is narrow, and in many ways I’m the type who doesn’t suit a dramatic line, so I said I wanted my eyes to look as open as possible with epicanthoplasty, without the front part getting swallowed by my current inner double eyelid line, but without looking fierce. They showed me a natural line (the lowest one) and a slightly higher line. Both the doctor and I agreed the first one was better. They were kind, and since it was my first consultation I asked a lot of different questions, and I learned a lot of useful information, so it was okay. But they recommended ptosis correction, and after discount, double eyelid surgery + ptosis correction + epicanthoplasty came out to 2.25 million won or so? So I was a bit... conflicted... I think they also said the student exam discount didn’t apply because it was the head director.
2. ㅇㄹㅈ I went straight to ㅇㄹㅈ that day and had my second consultation. First of all, compared with ㅈㅅㅌ, the consultant..? the director..? anyway, the people weren’t exactly on the friendly side.. But within about 5 minutes of the doctor arriving and looking at my eyes, they said almost the same things as at ㅈㅅㅌ, like some kind of master. They said a dramatic line wouldn’t suit my eyes, if I wanted epicanthoplasty it could be done slightly, and lateral or lower canthoplasty wouldn’t suit me. They said I don’t have much fat around my eyes, and the line held with the tool also stays fairly well, so quick buried suture double eyelid surgery would be possible. When I brought up ptosis correction, they seemed not to like it much. They definitely seemed to pursue minimal surgery and naturalness. Here, double eyelid surgery plus epicanthoplasty came out to 1.3 million won. There was no consultation fee, and they said to deposit 100,000 won first and bring the rest in cash. It seems like they don’t have a student exam discount here, only a referral discount.
In the end, I chose ㅇㄹㅈ. The reason is that even though both were the same in-line type, I liked the line ㅇㄹㅈ made for me much more, and I liked the doctor’s experience. I also felt the price at ㅇㄹㅈ wasn’t inflated, and I decided because when I worried the buried sutures might loosen, they said there is 10 years of free AS, and because quick buried suture has a shorter recovery period, etc..
For reference, I asked because I hate eyes becoming caterpillar eyes or trapezoid-shaped eyes. At ㅈㅅㅌ, they said it happens because there is a lot of fat in the eyes, and at ㅇㄹㅈ they said it happens because the line is not made properly.. Of course it’s probably due to a combination of reasons, but somehow after hearing that, I thought maybe ㅇㄹㅈ would pay more delicate attention to the line..? That’s why I decided.
Both didn’t push excessive additional procedures, and I was satisfied.ᐟ.ᐟ I hope this helps everyone with their choices.ᐟ.ᐟ
