I had nose surgery before, but the hump grew back, and they said I absolutely had to use silicone, but when I looked into it, that did not seem to be true. I read that the uneven parts are what should be covered with silicone.. I did not have any problems for several years, but the silicone is becoming very visible, so I think I will need revision surgery.
